We had FIOS in Northern Virginia and on YES we got the pre and post game shows. The games were blacked out. The post game shows came on a minute or two after the games ended. They just interupted whatever was airing on the national feed (ie. Center Stage or whatever).

Same thing here in NC on TWC. Pre and post game shows but no games.

Can MLB.TV games be streamed to an Android phone like a Samsung Stratosphere?

If you subscribe to the MLB.TV premium version, you will be able to get the MLB at Bat 2012 app for free. Using that app, from what I understand you will be able to see the game via Gamecast. Same was what you would see on a PC. You will also be able to get the audio feed of the game. FYI. MLB at Bat 2012 is due out this Wednesday.

I was all set to watch the Phils @ Yankees game yesterday on TV using ML.TV on our Samsung Smart TV but got an error message. Tried to watch on the Roku player on another TV and got a message that the games schedules will be on Roku later this month.

I called the help desk and was told the app for Samsung devices (TVs and Blu Rays) will be available on March 20th. Games will be available via Roku in late March. Kind of a bummer but I can still watch on the laptop. And the MLB Network has quite a few games available in the meantime.

I've been looking at that Samsung SmartTV line for a while now, and that's definitely going to be my next purchase. How do you like it so far? How's picture quality for TV & hooking up your laptop and how's the web surfing on it?

GG....IMO it's the best out there. Sharp Quatros was a close 2nd. We bought 3 Samsung TVs (1 LCD and 2 LED Smart TVs) when we moved. PQ is unbelievable and plenty of HDMI inputs. You will need to buy a Samsung LAN adapter to use the internet and download apps such as MLB.TV. Best thing is the prices keep dropping. Shop around and do price comparisons and compare the other brands side by side.

Re: MLB.TV.com vs. DirecTV Extra Innings

I just hung up with Directv and they knocked $10 a month off of the EI subscription for me, bringing it down to $24.99 a month, which at least is in the ball park of the $125 cost MLB.TV ($210 vs. $125 is a ridiculous difference). I thought about getting it on the computer this year instead, but I like to be able to DVR the YES pre and post games along with the actual game.

I was surprised that Directv could take anything off the cost of the EI subscription. When I've called in years past, I'm always told that the price was set by MLB and they couldn't change it. They'd always have to credit my bill some other way (comping my DVR service for 12 months is what they did last year). Maybe something changed with MLB and they're allowing providers to adjust the cost to better compete with the MLB.TV price.

Anyone else who has Directv, it's worth a call.

Slightly OT, but is there any way I would be able to watch in-market games on my phone (either iPhone or Droid on Sprint)? I don't have a TV or my own cable subscription.

Anyone who has DirectTV regardless if you get the MLB package should call and they will give you free programming and reduce your bill. I was already getting $45 off a month which almost cut my bill in half when I called tonight to see what they will do with the MLB package. The rep told me I was maxed out on program discounts but she would give me a 1 time $50 credit. I happily accepted as I will call back in a few weeks and threaten to go with MLBTV if they won't reduce the cost of EI. Be persistent and call a few times and your DTV bill will go down in price!

Yes... you need to fake your location. On an iPhone, if you jailbreak it, you can install fakelocation. On Android, there are location spoofing apps you can install on it's own. Just remember, fox and espn games are nationally blacked out.

Ive been using DirecTV for the past 2 years and finally got sick & tired of paying for it. Not just for the Yankees, but because I just dont watch much TV outside of sports. Why pay $90+ a month PLUS $200 for EI? Now I watch most TV shows over hulu on PS3 and plan on using mlb.tv and have been using NHL Center Ice for the Islanders (go ahead and laugh) games.

My main gripe is the Sunday night ESPN games which will be blacked out. What do you guys do in this situation? Go find a bar? Is there a way around it with Apple TV or the PS3?

Will Sunday night ESPN games stream on my Android device if my location shows the UK or something?

You could go through a proxy server to "change" your location. However, finding a reliable proxy server is another story.

I haven't confirmed it on Android yet, but on a jailbroken iPhone with my location spoof, yes, this will work.

You may have to experiment with the countries because some have deals with MLB to show the games in their country, esp playoffs, and so will be blacked out.

It's funny how everyone is complaining about DirecTV but to me after leaving cable it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. You just have to be vigilant and resist all the extra upgrade offers. Forget EI, you should definitely go with MLB.tv

The worst by far is Cablevision... I work for a major television network, so I kind of see behind the scenes of things, and I can't even tell you how many ways that cable provider screws over the customers.
