If it was up to me, I'd wanna toss out: AVG (for OBP perhaps) and HLDs

Not that you asked, if I was making a league from scratch, I'd probably do:
OBP, ISO, Runs, HR, SB (- Caught stealing), and maybe RBI or hits
ERA, WHIP, K/9 or Ks, W, SVs (- blown saves)
Keeping Hlds is a must. Bringing set up men into the mix has been a primary feature of this league.

In the roto league I am in we do "SOLDS" which is saves & holds for one category. May be an option if you guys are considering changing things around.

I'm not as massively educated in stats as many around here are but I'm pretty sure this statement is inaccurate. I know it has some bearing with OBP but not enough to say you are double counting anything.

I do agree that AVG is a terrible stat and I hate it.

well, i think we're tossing the word double-count around kinda loosely. the only true double counting would be singles in OPS. they're counted once on the SLG side and then again on the OBP side.

that said, AVG and OBP do obviously cover mostly the same ground.

AVE is a subset of OBP which is a subset of OPS.
AVE is a subset of SLG which is a subset of OPS.

Perhaps a compromise would be to replace AVE with OBP and OPS with SLG.

Just throwing that out there for you.

Personally I kind of like AVE as a cat even though I admitit does have its problems. 1st it generally makes speedsters somewhat more valuable and since they are often (but not always) useless in RBI/HR/OPS it still gives an incentive to draft high SB/AVE guys who can also help out in R. Secondly, AVE as a stat has pretty much been around since the advent of baseball stats and removing it is tantamount to sacralige in my humble opinion. Even if many SABR stats are a better indicator of a players true value to his team.

Remember this is FANTASY baseball not REAL baseball. So the idea is to get the cats that appeal to the most people in the league.

Any Sunday other than 3/4 and 4/1 work for me. Time doesn't matter. (I'm assuming Sunday is the easiest day to get everybody around)

I'm commissioner in another league. 4/1 isn't even an option as the Japan Series between the As and Mariners begins on 3/28. Stats will count from that date.

Sundays are good for me also. Anytime after 6:00 p.m. would be fine with me.

Sundays are awesome, but I was serious when I posted that the Autodraft did a much better job than I would have in 2011. I won't be upset if it is set for a time that is bad for me.

The draft the last few years was well over 2 hours....I vote for earlier, around 7....but of course it is impossible to please every one.

sorry, I am still PM'ing previous owners and trying to fill in the final spots to this league. It looks like the best time for most owners is on a Sunday night, I will make a final decision and post it in here by friday.

DRAFT TIME CHANGED: SUNDAY, MARCH 18th @ 7:45.

If this time/date doesn't work for you I am sorry; I've asked most people in the league and read all your comments and sunday night seems like the best time. 7:45 is the latest I want to start because with 20 teams, these drafts can take awhile and I don't wanna be up super later on a sunday and be dragging all day monday either. Thank you all for your input and hope to see you at the draft.
