Peyton done?
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/p...y-again-013012
Four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning has hit a plateau in his rehabilitation from neck surgery, and the slow rate at which the nerves in his arm are healing indicate he will not play again, Yahoo! Sports reported Monday, citing two sources.
The 35-year-old began throwing in December after the fused vertebrae in his neck healed as expected, but he has not shown any improvement in the velocity of his passes.
The two sources feared Manning would never show improvement again.
Further, two league-affiliated doctors told the website that it could take a year before Manning knows if he will be able to return and said they would recommend Irsay let go of him.
The team will owe Manning a $28 million roster bonus if he is still with the team March 8.

Re: Peyton done?
Would really be a shame if that's the way he goes out.

Re: Peyton done?
It's sad to see such an amazing career come to an end like this, but if I were him I would retire too. He's earned more money than he'll ever need. Why risk being paralyzed? He will have his pick of jobs between networks and coaching. Best of luck in the future Peyton.

Re: Peyton done?
At this stage he should just focus on getting healthy. Everything comes to second. He should be proud of his career and enjoy his life.

Yeah, I agree with what everyone is saying. Hopefully he can see the big picture and focus on his health and the rest of his life.

I also agree with all you. Health and safety first Peyton.

Re: Peyton done?
On another note, this is still a big if, but if Luck is what everyone thinks he can be, how f'n lucky are the Colts that this is the year Peyton gets hurt and they go 2-14?

Re: Peyton done?
Wow I really hope this isn't true. He's got to do what's best for his health though. Excellent career either way.

Re: Peyton done?
Does this mean we need to give more credibility to future Rob Lowe tweets?

Re: Peyton done?
Despite being on a division rival, Peyton has been one of my favorite players ever since he joined the league. Easily the best QB I've ever seen. It would be a shame for him to go out this way.

Re: Peyton done?
If that was his last game, it was definitely a bittersweet moment that the Colts lost to my favorite team (New York Jets). I'm not dissing the Colts, it's just that Peyton's last game was against the team he beat at the AFC Championship game the previous year. Even though I'm not a Colts fan, I have tons of respect for Peyton Manning and I know he will definitely go into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.

His legacy is incomplete. I feel he will return to the NFL. He still has a lot to prove (Postseason, I'm talking to you).

If he does retire, he can return to his first passion in life - TV commercial acting.

Re: Peyton done?
If Colts can't trade Peyton, they are on the hook for 35m.
That's a huge huge huge burden under the salary cap, especially with Luck coming in. You just don't do that unless you're convinced Peyton will be back 100% for multiple years.
At this point, I don't think it's possible for the Colts to do anything but cut Peyton or trade him for... nothing basically.

Re: Peyton done?
They're going to cut him. The roster bonus is due in March and he won't know if he can truly come back at that point so it's really their only option. No team would trade for Peyton before he's ready to play, and that's not happening before he's due to get that roster bonus.

Re: Peyton done?
I hope Peyton puts on a Jets uniform or become Colts OC.
