I thought they were. I don't follow the NBA at all.

It's looking like the Eastern Conference in the NHL will come down to the Bruins and Rangers so we may get to go through this all again in a few months.

Gisele blaming the Pat's receivers. The Brady's are really going to be loved in the lockerrom next year.

Waiting for an elevator after the game with some other Patriots' wives, Gisele was videotaped saying, "I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times. My husband cannot f---king throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time."

I may put some money on my Jags. 100-1 odds. They already have a top 10 defense and the top running back in the league. Given the new owner and how much cap space they have, they'd be worth putting up a few bucks with those odds.

    Re: Super Bowl XLVI

I bet Vegas took a hit this year as not only were the Giants underdogs for this game, when most of the prognosticators picked them so I'm sure a lot of money was bet on them, they probably had a good amount of people bet on them when they were 50-1 in November. I guess they made some of that loss up on all the people who took the Bears at 25-1 two weeks before Cutler got hurt (grumble).

Those odds for next year a just silly, but worth taking a chance on some team with a good chance to improve it's odds between now and September, leaving you with the hot ticket when they go from 100-1 to 15-1.

And I bet a lot of people groaned when the game began with a safety.

It's funny b/c I was talking to my b/f at the time when we pinned them back that far and said "okay, now I'd like a safety and get the ball back". he laughed at me and said you can't expect that and Boom!

I heard this morning they were going to be in the black overall for this Super Bowl because of the money they made on all those crazy side bets they offer. Something like the last 16 out of 17 Super Bowl they have ended up ahead (I have no idea which one they lost money)

That's true...for every one guy that took the Giants at 50/1, a few hundred people took the Packers at 5/1. Vegas last lost money on Super Bowl 42.

Slightly off topic but am I the only one who is hoping that show Smash is a complete failure just because of how over-promoted it has been these past few weeks? NBC is full of morons. Why promote a show about Broadway, singing and dancing every time you talk about football??

You are not the only one. I hope that stupid thing crashes and burns. Just put on two back-to-back episodes of Community every week instead.

Yeah. But if they follow my plan, they could just have her reprise her role as Pierce's step-daughter.

I believe SB XIII was the worst for Vegas. IIRC the line opened with Steelers -3, a lot of money came in on the Steelers and the line moved up to Steelers -5 with the late betting going to Dallas. Pit 35 -Dal 31 was a great outcome for most bettors that year.

That may be true on just SB bets, but when the Giants lost 4 in a row to go to (7-7), Vegas had them at 100:1 to win the SB. Supposedly a lot of people took that proposition. I think that does not count as a SB but as an NFL-season bet. I would have loved to have dropped $100 on that proposition.

Those are the futures bets and yeah I think they took a hit on those, but think about all the other people who took GB, NO, NE, SF, Chicago (when they were 7-2 before they lost their QB), Houston, Baltimore, and Pitt. Plus all the people who took San Diego, Philly, etc in the beginning of the season. I'm pretty sure the casinos ended up ahead in the grand scheme of things.

True....but was watching a show where they were talking about that, and they said nobody bets like NYers when it comes to their teams. Probably a lot of money laid out pre-season, then when they were (7-3) and again when they hit 100:1 at (7-7).

Still people bet on 31 other teams. They all lost.

I think lost in all of this is that twice now the NE Pats and Tom Brady have almost gone down as the greatest team/player in American sports history and twice they've been stopped by a team from New York led by a Manning.

Gilbride is fortunate to have an elite quarterback and an explosive young recieving corp.

I don't really think he shut up any of his haters...there were some questionable playcalls/not getting the play in time and having to burn potential crucial timeouts. It's a shock that this is still an ongoing issue for years and years.

Regardless, He's a 2nd time champ so props to him and thank goodness his occasional stupidity is overcome by some pretty special players.
