All 10K's were on the slider. Just filthy.

I was in the upper deck behind home plate, so while I couldn't see clearly how Sabathia was releasing the slider, it must have been incredibly deceptive. The Braves were taking strong, confident hacks at it and missing it completely. By the end they had to know it was coming with two strikes, and the best anyone could do with it was Chipper fouling one off as he treid to check his swing.

In such rapid succession, too. This start from CC was eye-opening -- a complete return to form.

The slider to McCann in the 8th was pure filth.

Time for his annual summer run where he's untouchable.

    Can we say.......ACE!!!!

Just excellent. Bottom line is that CC is worth every dime they are paying him. There are very few free agents in that class.

    Ain't that the truth?!

He looked so locked in last night and appeared to have more left in the tank after the 9th. I think it was Hirshiser who said you can count on CC to heat up with the weather (it wasn't hot last night, but calendar-wise, he's on schedule).

It started inside on McCann and broke wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy outside. Just filth. There was no chance McCann was going to hit it.

ESPN says he's the betting favorite to win the AL Cy Young but I don't know why.

Fastball velocity looks like it has taken the year off.

So much for that flaw he supposedly corrected in his previous start.

Please. He had a poor game as did almost the entire Yankee team including Rob Thomson. To say that he is not an ace is simply ridiculous.

He only allowed 1 Earned Run. The rest was errors and just sloppy play all around on the defense.

That's what worries me about CC the most.

He allowed 4 unearned runs which is the third time in his career that he allowed 4 or more unearned runs.

Not to mention that the defense of Stewart, Cano and Teixeira not only helped the mets score 4 runs but it also forced CC into throwing many more pitches than were necessary.

He's had a few good games sprinkled in here and there, but overall, he hasn't pitched well for about a year now. And he's constantly struggling to put hitters away. Two 4 run leads in this game and he couldn't slam the door.

It's tough to pitch and still cover the second, first and catcher positions.

Nothing wrong with the throw from Stewart. Cano should have had that.

I accept the defense played like crap, but he did put 11 runners on base in 5.2 innings.

True, but they weren't drilling the ball all over the place. It seemed to me to be a bunch of dinkers and jam shots over the infield and a couple of grounders that got through, including one past the drawn-in infield.

    I'm not worried about him.
