Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread

Sounds like the big guy's ready.• CC Sabathia had a slight head cold for his final spring start in Miami, but he said that’s gone. “I feel fine now,” he said. “That’s still no excuse for why I didn’t pitch good (last time). It’s just one of those nights.”
• Sabathia was occasionally disappointed by his fastball command this spring. “It was pretty good in my bullpen (after the last start),” he said. “I was excited about that. I throw everything off my fastball — my changeup, my cutter, everything. I need to have that to be able to pitch well.”

His stuff looks fine.
Just one of those days just hope at the very least he settles down and gives the offense a chance.

Pitched better than his line indicated.
If Girardi doesn't do that silly IBB, probably a much better line.Fistpumping like a champion.

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
Yeah I'm still baffled at the pitch sequence to Pena there. 7 straight fastballs? The guy is inept vs lefties...and mainly because he cant identify the slider. We saw it in the AB's later in the game when he was flailing helplessly at sliders.
On 3-2 there, CC could have bounced one in and Pena would have swung.

Guess CC should go back to being a fatty?

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
How was he today?
Was it a case of 6 innings of being completely wank or just one bad pitch making his whole line look bad?

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
Command/Control being off isn't concerning, what is concerning is that his velocity is down.

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
I didn't understand the pitch calling either. Pena is a dead-red fastball hitter. No reason to throw him a fastball in that situation, unless CC wasn't confident he could get his slider close enough to the plate. Never should have been in that situation in the first place.

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
Idk how he thought he was going to get his 93mph fastball by pena, he would have been much better off trying to go up and in. NO use being a monday morning qb though.

CC is a notoriously slow starter. He'll be fine.

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
As shaky as his location was I thought his slider looked good. If it werent for a head scratching 6straight fastballs to Pena his line would've looked a lot better.

The Slide piece was really good yesterday. He'll lock in at some point like he always does.

Re: 2012 CC Sabathia performance thread
He(CC) just hasn't looked good, his control was off yesterday an all preseason so it seems. Then Mo who got pounded like a nail to top things off. Wow, our two big guns misfired badly... I'll tell you guys right now that this loss really stung, oh yes!! I was counting the W, and like I said if this continues we're going to be in a world of hurt...
I realize that it's just one game, but I know this one got some wheels turning, to me it could be cause for alarm. Yet as we all know baseball is a marathon not a sprint. Again we just watched our top pitchers get hammered, as though it was batting practice.
