Looked good today, even with a tight strike zone (which was very consistent for both teams).

Good Lord. I was math-challenged in high school, but at least I now have an answer for when I would need Algebra.

CC wasn't at his absolute best, but I'll take his pretty good any day. Both teams had problems with that strike zone.

Time to stop the losing streak CC.

I wouldn't be surprised to see his fastball hit 95 tonight.
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

He's hit 95 a buncha times and has touched 96. So looks like his fastball velocity is back.

For a guy who makes a ton of money, I sometimes get the feeling he's a bit underpaid for what he brings to this team.

Baseball-reference doesn't have his salary this year, but he made $24,285,714 in each of the previous two seasons, which is 89 percent more than Verlander made in 2011. I can't call him underpaid.

Hard to throw with good velocity when you've got the weight of Eduardo Nunez on your throwing shoulder.

he hit 94 twice and 93 on another one in the third.

maybe this is one of those games where he'll pick up steam as he goes?

I don't care if he's throwing 52 if he's giving 8 innings with 2 runs each time out.

0ER, actually. Fourth straight start with at least 8IP. He's gotta be the best nine-figure signing in baseball history, so far anyways.

Looks like he hit 94 more than a few times as his average four seamer was 92 tonight. He didn't have his best four seam fastball tonight as he threw plenty of sinkers, sliders and changeups.

Manny Ramirez...even though it ended poorly for them, it was a heck of a signing.

CC was great. Its these type of games that I sometimes take for granted...where he just pounds his way through 8 innings, without being all that spectacular.

I agree we take him for granted, but some of those K's tonight were pretty spectacular.

    (10 K's total tonight!)
