Can't see us picking up that option.SEATTLE — Pedro Feliciano’s career as a Yankee will likely be defined by the number of pitches he threw in pinstripes: zero.
The Yankees announced today that the left-handed reliever underwent rotator cuff surgery last week after months of attempting rehab for a shoulder injury suffered in spring training.
The timing of the surgery, which was performed by orthopedic surgeon James Andrews, will likely cost Feliciano all of next season.
The former Mets reliever signed a two-year, $8 million free-agent deal last winter to join the Yankees, who were willing to overlook his heavy workload because of his performance. But unless the team picks up a $4.5 million option for the 2013 season, Feliciano will not make a single appearance for the Yankees.

Re: Pedro Feliciano
What a shame. Imagine if we had in him our pen. It would be even better.

Re: Pedro Feliciano
I know what you mean, but when I read that it comes off as though you thought it was Pedro's fault. Which it isn't.

Re: Pedro Feliciano
At least insurance should cover most of his salary. Right?

Re: Pedro Feliciano
Where does Pedro go from here? Does he try to get signed elsewhere in the majors, take a job in the minors hoping to break back through or do a Colon and play in the South American leagues?
Does Cashman even have a viable option to try and get a prospect for him?'Keep your mouth shut and play baseball!', Tony Lazzeri.
On the drive for 28!

Re: Pedro Feliciano
We need another lefty in the pen. Boone Logan can't carry on his own.
It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
Every year is The Year. Go Yankees.
