Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Agreed. But I think Eric's point is valid. No matter what topic you bring up there will be strong cases on two opposite ends of a debate and things wind up turning silly after a while and the "I told you so's" are always there when the season ends and one side is proven correct.
I'm not saying you're wrong and this thread won't turn into a disaster, it will and it will entertain the hell out of me. But realistically most arguments around here pretty much follow the same path. This is why we come here every day!In Cashman I trust.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
The problem is whether the person believes it or they are trolling there is always someone on the opposite end of the spectrum, even on things that are pretty obvious and make very strong arguments no matter how silly. I'm used to it. Again, entertainment for me. I just sit back and watch.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
It will be mostly nonsensical precisely because the argument will be taking place while sample sizes are still far too small for a definitive conclusion. Even a full year from now, it would be premature to declare whether the Yankees should regret the trade, barring a catastrophic injury to either player. Heck, there are people for whom the last word on the Kennedy / Granderson trade still isn't written, and that was two years ago.
But once enough time has passed, there generally ends up being a consensus on these things. The winner of the Jay Buhner trade is no longer up for debate.

Apparently he has visa/passport issues.
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Trade not yet official, but Montero has physical
SEATTLE -- The trade between the Mariners and Yankees involving premier young talents Jesus Montero and Michael Pineda still hasn't been formally announced, but Montero was in Seattle on Saturday undergoing physical exams, and final word is likely to come by Monday.
News of the impending four-player swap initially leaked out eight days ago, but Montero, 22, had travel issues getting out of his native Venezuela last week, and then was further delayed by a snow storm that hit Seattle.
Hopefully, Jesus can bring some power of a different sort to Safeco Field for years to come

So my wife and I are gonna be in Seattle this summer. For attending Mariners games together, we're thinking that she might get a Pineda Yankees t-shirt and I might get a customized Montero Yankees t-shirt (using his Mariners #). The M fans won't know what to do
