Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
I don't care what kind of C Montero turns out to be, I wanted to see him hit in our lineup everyday.
This was about my viewing pleasure, dammit.
And the whole DH issue only matters because of A-Rod's absurd contract. Montero as DH and back-up C for the rest of his career was a no-brainer otherwise."In baseball, you don't know nothin'." - Yogi Berra

Also, Noesi went eight shut out innings. I know it was the A's in Safeco but a good outing nonetheless.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
He has an awesome goattee and after he hit his HR the Mariners' announcer called it a "Montero Mash."
Somewhere Sterling is upset he didn't think of that first.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
This season Jesus Montero got his first start at catcher against the two-time defending American League champion Texas Rangers, hitting a clutch ninth-inning sacrifice fly in Seattle's 4-3 come-from-behind win on the road:

But the trade didn't happen in a vacuum. The Yankees have five more years of A-Rod's contract to deal with and need that DH spot. There truly was nowhere for Montero to play with any regularity. IMO, we need to wait and see what Pineda brings to the table when he finally gets into major league games for the Yankees. I'm still excited to see this kid pitch. Even with the reduced velocity issues in ST, this young man seems to know how to get hitters out. He's more than just a thrower.
And I need to get myself up to Charleston so I can see Campos in person before they promote him from the Sally league. It seems that the Yanks got themselves a heck of a talent in him too.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Jesus Montero homered and threw out an attempted basestealer Friday evening (but Hector Noesi was shelled in his third start).

I hated the trade from day 1.
I hate it even more now.
Cashman didn't do his homework on Pineda.
