Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
To think that I once would have been happy if you told me Montero had thrown out Ichiro trying to steal!

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Didn't realize he was hitting .323/.357/.480 away from Safeco (.199/.248/.321 at home). Almost exactly the same # of plate appearances (213 and 210, respectively).
Bah.

after his 0-for-8 performance in last night's 18-inning marathon, he is now rocking a .690 OPS

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Him having an OPS+ under 100 might be the most surprising thing about this MLB season to me.
I'm still not worried about him in the long run if there's no significant attitude issue causing this. If it's just baseball and adjusting to pitchers/parks then I still think he'll be fine.Mo' Nut: One Smoove Brotha.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
I still feel that this was a terrible trade and still think that Montero is going to have a long and productive career. He is young and will only gain from experience. Who knows maybe in the future he will still end up with NY when he is a free agent.

It's a tough park, but a .294 wOBA is really bad.

Monetro may one day be a very good MLB hitter. That day is not now.

If he plays poorly enough, maybe the Yanks can get him back....

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
I just looked at the in-game box for the M's/O's game going on right now, and even with his 0-2 so far tonight against Saunders, Jesus Montero (.258) has the highest batting average in the current Seattle lineup.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread
Columnist Dave Cameron at U.S.S. Mariner writes that the Seattle Mariners should consider trading Jesus Montero:
http://www.ussmariner.com/2012/09/20...jesus-montero/
When Seattle traded for Montero in January, the Mariners did not have elite catching prospect Mike Zunino and did not know that recently acquired catcher John Jaso would post a WAR of 2.7 in a part-time role (although I'm sure the M's suspected Miguel Olivo would be, well, Miguel Olivo).

We could send them Brien Taylor for Montero.
