    2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread

This will be the most masochistic thread on this site. I will personally make sure of it.

This thread will just be filled with a bunch of nonsensical "I told you so" posts.

He mashes & people will rub that in others' faces or he struggles & that is rubbed in people's faces.

I predict there to not be no extensive, logical discussion on the topic.

    Lets be realistic...

There's no way Montero will bat .333, hit 50 bombs and only slug .590

40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

I think what's most likely is he'll have a good rookie year posting an OPS between 0.800-0.850, and you'll have a bunch of people on both sides claiming they were right.

Maybe. Either way nobody is going to be right based on the 2012 season.

I thought he was supposed to be an impact bat.

He's struggled the last two seasons out of the gate in the minors, I expect more of the same.

I'm saying right here and now that this trade will work out for the benefit of the Yanees regardless of how Montero does. We needed a SP way more than a DH. I'm sorry but the Yankees clobber the ball enough and there is always hitting available. premium starting pitching is hard to come by and this trade is awesome.

If Pineda fails I promise to come back and eat my serving of crow. But I LOVE the trade.

Of course. Just like Jeter is FINISHED because he went 0-for-10; Jeter is BACK when he goes 8-for-10.

That's a fact with just about every baseball thread on this forum though. Which would render every thread useless.

Re: 2012 Jesus Montero Performance Thread

Not exactly. During the Great Jeter Debate of '11, there was logical reasoning for why people thought Jeter was on a severe decline. Just using him as an example.

There's a difference between an illogical argument & one where people just agree to disagree. ITL can get insane but there's more logical arguments about various topics then there isn't going on in those threads.
