Pound-for-pound, the best Yankee acquisition in years. Needs to be re-signed.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/stor...-october-gloryThe 37-year-old Kuroda wanted the no-hitter for the sake of the fans, but he was really focused on simply winning the game. He is only 11-8, despite an ERA that dipped to 3.06 after the shutout. He has gone at least seven scoreless innings six times this year. No one else in the majors has done that.
Sick.

In AL -
8th in ERA
8th in WHIP
3rd in WAR
Dude is setting himself up to get CY young votes. No I'm not saying he'll win or even be considered a candidate to win but he could pull in a number of votes and finish around 5th in the voting maybe.
That is to say, he's pitching like an ace.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
After walking a few at the start of the year, he's back in line with his walk rates of the last two years (2.2 per 9 innings) and while his K rate is down slightly, I'm sure that is simply due to the lack of pitchers at the plate.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
I've always loved watching Japanese players play because they very strongly emphasize fundamentals there. You can count on them to field, bunt, run the bases and pitch with a brain.
Here, very early on you start teaching kids skills for scouts... how to hit for power, how to throw a hard fastball. Actually winning games takes a backseat to climbing prospect rankings.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
His previous five starts have all been low-scoring games with both teams scoring 4 runs or fewer.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
what's he doing is beyond impressive when you consider his age and how he's gone from the NL West to the AL East, not missing a beat in performance quality in doing so.

Just hope he can carry this through October because it would be nice to have a legitimate shutdown pair.
