Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
I fell asleep during the first inning when he was pitching. Glad I missed the game, probably would have not been so happy.

So much for the " he pitched poorly because of the cold weather " theory
We were lucky he didn't give up a lot more runs

3.56 era. 3-4 W-L. Not bad.
Faced off against some touch starting pitchers, but that's his job as a No. 2.
Most that I could complain about would be the lack of consistency from start to start.

Yeah his velocity was gross today, not sure what was going on with him.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
Great job by Kuroda. Only thing I found strange was this quote about the home run pitch to Montero, which was purposely thrown on the outer half where Montero likes it:
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2012/05/1...y-he-can-rake/“It was really shocking,” Kuroda said. “I chose that pitch because I thought it was a great pitch for him not to hit a home run.”

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
That pitch was way down and away. It was pretty much perfect- a slider right on the bottom corner of the strikezone at 85mph. Not exactly prime homerun pitch.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
There just seems to be no in-between with Kuroda as he is either great or he is awful.

He's not a fan of the colour grey it seems.

Chewing glass would have been better than watching him tonight. He's Jekyl and Hyde way too often. One game good, one bad, etc., etc.

Re: 2012 Hiroki Kuroda performance thread
He started off rather slow last year and then went on to reel off 15 quality starts in his next 20 games. I think we'll see more consistency, though I don't expect him to be anything more than a middle-of-the-rotation guy, which is fine.

I'll have to check his home road splits when I get back home. I think all his bad performances have come away from yankee stadium
