cashman revamped the "rehabing pitchers in tampa" operation - got rid of billy connors and nardi contreras and hired gil patterson... and from what i read, more changes are forthcoming

whoever in charge of him was pretty nervous after that. they replaced teh tampa regime. maybe not because of this incident but yea

it was probably a cumulative thing... first was the pineda incident (proving that there's zero accountability down there) and then the whole banuelos mis-diagnosis clusterf*ck.... also the fact that we haven't had any of our high ceiling arms come close to their ceilings... and just an overall lack of development... these all probably prompted the changes

I agree. But, it doesn't matter how plainly it is stated, there are those who still think that Pineda getting a DUI means that he isn't taking his career seriously.

btw i'd think a policy of no self endangering activity and no binge drinking is pretty reasonable for a rehab program, no?

Driving under the influence is pretty stupid, and I'd never downplay the potential consequences it can have. That said, I've known plenty of 23 year olds who have done some remarkably self-destructive things and managed to become pretty respectable human beings.

Nardi Contreras is not gone! He's been reassigned and might even have Billy Connor's old job. The Yankees are apparently adding more resources to their scouting and development staffs.
