Well if you're never going to start Romero or Harvey there is no use in rostering them. TBH I might even take the chance on keeping Harvey around if it's a keeper league. I think when he learns to pace his emotions and save some heat for the 6th and beyond he's going to be a stud.

Seriously though, he's trash against LHP.

Maybe he'll be better down the line (we know how disappointing an Upton can be!), but I don't feel like living through another round of Fredi benching JayHey for Jose Constanza or now Reed Johnson.

At any rate, I talked up JayHey's keeper studliness to one of the basement dwellers and flipped him for Nellie Cruz, Cliff Lee, and Raf. Betancourt.

He's had one bad month this season....other than that he has been playing great and the braves have finally moved him into the 3-hole full time...in fact they braves benched bourn and moved heyward to CF the first game that Mr. Reed Johnson started for the bravos. I do agree tho, he struggles against lefties....but not as bad as you make it seem. I just see Upton as a HR hitter, where as Heyward is a better all around player.

I'm not saying he's not playing great, I was just saying when it comes to evaluating him vs. Justin Upton as commodities there's slightly less risk attached to Upton.

Yes he's only had one bad month this season (he's had a fine season). But -- again, assessing risk -- LHP vs. RHP OPS: .677 vs. .937 this season, .685 vs. .859 career. And last year it got so bad that Fredi repeatedly benched him and turned him into a platoon player. I don't think that's going to happen ever again, but I can rest assured Upton will never ride the pine 1 or 2 days a week.

As far as "all around" -- Maybe Heyward will be a better 5x5 player in 5 years, but Upton, albeit 2 years older, has already hit .300 and has already gone 20-20 AND 30-20. This is the first time JayHey's even gone 15-15, minors or pros.

So when it came to splitting hairs I'd rather hitch my wagon to the guy who's been there, done that (and still just 24 years old) than focus on what "could be" with JayHey. I would have liked to keep both but I'm trying to win some World Series ticket cash and wanted to strike while the iron's hot. That's all. Love em both.

understood and I think you hit the nail on the head...they are both very good players and I think you'll be fine with either choice

While watching the braves game tonight....found out Heyward has hit 5 HR's aganist LHP this season...2nd best on the team behind Brian McCann....just saying
