Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Its unbelievable how many owners have no idea what they are doing. Someone in my league dropped Aramis Ramirez, in the midst of his .300/25 season last year.....huh? I'm not a fan of Stubbs, but there is no doubt he should be on a team and could even possibly be used as trade bait.
Hoping Rivera can pitch forever!

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Anybody seeing any worthy waiver/FA claims out there right now? Any on the closer market?
I picked up Danks (so-so 1st 2 starts) and Lohse before day 1. I don't know if any of you all have him, but Jose Altuve has been burnin up my bench. I play in a 12 team 6x6 league and his BA and OPS numbers are good. His runs are above average for a crappy team. No power or SB as of now, but he's projected to get 15-20 SB's.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
depends on who is available.
Shafer & Martinez from HOU have potential and are under 30% owned in yahoo
Laroche has 25 HR bounce back potential and under 30% owned
De Aza is under 50%, I like him for AVE/SB and his early power is a nice bonus but probbaly won't last.
Kyle Seager 3B/SS eligible is off to a nice start but I know nothing about him to recommend him.
If you have a deep bench Seth Smith/Johnny Gomes is an interesting R/L platoon combo.
Brian LaHair has potential.
Fernando Rodney seems to be running with closer gig but he's generally bad at pitching.
Danny Duffy & Tommy Milone both had great starts but faced bad offenses. They bear watching. Especially Duffy who has some good K potential.
I'd grab Henry Rodriguez if he's available and you are speculating on saves.Baseball is life;
the rest is just details.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
In one of my 12 team roto leagues, I had 4 closers and was only able to use 3 on a given night. I was in need of an SP since my rotation looks like this - CC, Garza, Cueto, McCarthy, Chacin, Buchholz. The moment Broxton blew his save the other night, I hit "accept" on the offer I received - Hughes for Broxton. Thoughts?
Also, my lineup is the strength of the team, except for steals - if any of you remember, this was the league that I traded Strasburg and Gardner for Pedroia...so basically I created my team weaknesses by going for overall value.
The lineup -
Wieters
Prince
Pedroia
Longoria
Jeter
Tex (inf)
Hamilton
Beltran
Choo
Fowler
Pena (utl)
Any suggestions? I want to see if Pena can continue this for another week or so before I consider really shopping Tex to fill holes.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Hughes for Broxton is a decent gamble. If Broxton saves 35 games with 100 Ks it will look dumb but there is just as much chance of Holland closing by mid-May as there is of Broxton keeping the closer gig all year.
Tex for a top OF would make sense for your team I think if you could pull it off.Baseball is life;

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Thanks a ton, Tripper!
Schaefer was picked up just recently. Martinez was drafted.
LaRoche was picked up a day before you wrote that. Drafted him late last year. I forgot he was back from shoulder surgery.
Closers get swiped up so quickly. Rodney and Rodriguez have been on teams for the entire time.
I added Seager, LaHair, Duffy, and Milone to my Watch List. Any other Watch List/potentials you guys seeing out there?

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Bourne is buy low candidate, not someone you deal tex for.
Someone offered me Scherzer for Bourne yesterday. Umm, no thanks. I konw Bourne is something like 3/24 but he did swipe 60 bags last year and Sherzer is almost a 1 cat K guy.
edit: and as I type this Scherzer is dominating Boston
edit 2 - well he was - oopsBaseball is life;

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
I'm thinking about dealing Alex Gordon. He's K'd in over half of his AB's and there is talk of a platoon against LHP's. I'm wondering if 2011 was an aberration.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
I picked up Romo....Casilla came into a tie game in the 8th inning last night-not exactly a spot to use a closer. Romo has better numbers than Wilson and I think Bochy is just opening it up and hoping Romo runs with it. (Romo had 70 strikeouts and 5 walks in 48 innings last year. Crazy numbers)

Looks like Jason Heyward is good again. If you can steal him from someone in your league that might not fully believe in him it might be the time to move on him.
