Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
who'd you rather have on your fantasy team to occupy your UTIL slot...
Carlos Pena or Justin Smoak?
i can cut bait later this spring if/when i can move Ryan Howard from the DL.

Smoaks upside is better. Pena will get you HRs but probably nothing else.

My opponent has 17 IP of 0.00 ERA 0.59 WHIP so far with Kershaw going tonight. Unreal.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Yeah it was kind of funny, he had Verlander, Cueto & Kershaw combine for 18 IP of shutout ball and only got 1 W out of it so while ERA & WHIP are out of reach in this short week, I can still whezzel out W and becasue of Kershaws short outing I migh catch him in Ks. But it didn't help that I got 7 IP of 1 run ball from Bedard only to take an L.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Yeah yesterday was kind of a frustrating day. I had both Strasburg and Lester give me quality starts yet no W's.
Francisco and Guerra picking up saves was nice on opening day though."Long Island is New Jersey with a GED." - Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
My team is batting .153, while my opponent is at .343. That can't possibly be sustainable on either side, but it's still frustrating.
Just dropped Matt Joyce for Austin Jackson. Nothing to do with today's 0-4, just like Jackson a little better as a player. Gives me some more speed, and he's got to improve from his stats last year.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Crazy day today, I have Buchholz and Aceves who combined to give up 10 ER but I also have Cabrera and Peralta who drove in 8 of the 10 runs so that didn't kill me completely. Plus it always stings a little bit less when it's Sox pitchers that are getting shelled.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Drew Stubbs just got dropped in my 12 teamer. He's a no brainer waiver claim right? I have #3 priority. I mean guy has 30/30 potential even if he Ks a ton. I can always stash him on my bench until he gets hot, I mean it isn't like I'm going to miss Jason Kuebel right?

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
(I get) Bautista for Verlander...
Who wins?
Here's my team:
McCann
Freeman
Utley/Beckham
Hardy
Hanley
Presley
Upton/Beltran
Beltran/Hunter
C. Pena (DH)
Willingham (DH)
Verlander
Haren
Wandy Rodriguez
Jurrjens
Rivera
Guerra
Thornton
And a bunch of other players. It's a Dynasty league with like...70 man rosters. 12 Teams, point system.
Do I take it? My offense isn't looking too good with the injuries to Utley and Upton, but can I afford losing Verlander?

Both of these make it tough to evaluate. Considering Verlander's age, I think I'd probably keep Verlander in this format if top pitchers score about the same as top hitters.
I mean who is going to fill Verlander's spot for you and who who Bautista be bumping from your lineup?Baseball is life;
