Alex Rios is one of "those guys" for me. I drafted him for several seasons in a row always thinking, "This is it. This is going to be a huge season for him" and instead getting burned. I jumped off the Rios train quite a while ago. I'm glad he's working out well for you though.

Yeah but Oakland and Seattle got to him. So I don't expect him to even do well against bad teams.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
oy.... good thing I benched Fister this week. Not something I normally do but against Texas there are very few pitchers I leave in. Hammel was a guy I just sort of plugged in and forgot about with what he's done all year. I suppose he was due for that.
Is it time to roll with Tim now? 2 starts in a row. He had the one bad inning that was caused by a bad defensive play if I'm not mistaken, then dominated for the next 6. After this performance is he back? I'm gonna try it. Of course he'll probably get lit up again.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball

After his last 2 starts, I rolled with him too. At least I had the other side with Weaver.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
I just traded Ervin Santana for Ryan Zimmerman in my roto league. He was basically nothing but depth for me and I have Chris Davis at 3rd and Morneau at CI. I'm benching Davis with the hopes thet Zimmerman's last week is a sign of him coming back to be his normal self. I bought low on him so I'm playing with house money really. Nothing but good can come of this for me, even if I bench him for Davis again. If he takes off I just gave myself a nice little offensive bump for a platoon starter.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
In retrospect this trade may have just sunk my season in that league. I played the guy I dealt A-rod and Latos to last week and this trade directly cost me 4.5 games in the standing turning what would have been 6-4 W into 1-8-1 L. Rarely has a H2H trade comeback to bite me in the ass so hard so quickly.

I took a shot and I picked up Liriano to sit on my bench a while. I don't expect to start him unless the match up is really in his favor for a few weeks. Maybe he'll go on one of his tears for a while before he rips his shoulder or something and I can get some value to help bump me up in the standings.

Just made a number of moves, including dropping Carlos Santana, and adding AJ Pierzynski and Carl Crawford... Just can't take Santana's production, anymore. Absolutely painful.

Man I've been riding Martin all season at C and getting my ass kicked. I know if I cut ties he will bounce back. He isn't this bad.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
That's why I rarely take a catcher early. I always think there is risk in catcher and they are usually drafted above what performance they produce. But if I was going to reach, Santana, Posey and Napoli would have been 3 catchers to reach for in my opinion in the draft this year.

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
I actually find it interesting how many decent catchers there are in fantasy this year. The emergence of Ellis, Rosario, Arencibia, Lucroy, Grandal, and hell even Saltalamacchia has been a nice surprise. Ruiz become an absolute monster. The position is deeper than I ever remember it being.
Montero, Santana and Avila are the biggest busts so far. Still a lot of baseball left though. All could put up some big numbers.NYYFans Fantasy Baseball

Re: Fantasy Baseball General Discussion 2012
Yeah that is the thing. If in a two catcher league (like I play in) if you waited and just grabbed say Yadier Molina and Carlos Ruiz or heck even AJ Pierzynski instead of a highly rated catcher, you would mostly likely be in first or second place in your league right now.
It just isn't worth it to grab a catcher high."Long Island is New Jersey with a GED." - Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
