Nope. Definitely The STand. Remember the dude that was semi-retarded?

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
I read the first volume (not the compendium) before the show came out and, frankly, I thought it was standard zombie fare. Entertaining but not earth-shattering. Did you watch the AMC show first? (Just curious... I'm wondering if seeing the show first makes you appreciate the story/comic more)

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
I watched the show first. I got the Compendium as a gift for X-Mas after season 1. I was going to wait but after season 2 ended I couldn't. I like the comics more because there isn't so much talking going on about dumb stuff. Things get done, decisions are made and it's action packed. I understand that the show needs character development and backstories and all that stuff. But if I have one hang up it's the talking, and talking, and talking. I was blown away by the second half of season 2 though, so my expectations for next season are high especially having read the comic.

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
It's hard to say because characters and events are jumbled up. I would say it's closely related to book 2 but again some things have happened in the show that haven't happened in the comic at all and some things in the comic may or may not be happening next season from book 2.

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
I just finished The Blade Itself. It took me awhile to get into it, but I think I liked it enough to give the next book a shot.
Another fantasy trilogy I really enjoyed is the Mistborn Trilogy, by Brandon Sanderson."And I wonder, when I sing along with you. If everything
could ever feel this real forever. If anything could ever be this good again."

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
The hubby and I just got back from the European comic book shop and the Japanese used book store.... we have tons o' stuff now. I've got 5 volumes of Vampire Hunter D (graphic novel) to go through... and all 23+ volumes of Hikaru no Go to in Japanese to compare against the English version. Plus I got The Zombies that Ate the World vol. 1, Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere (graphic novel as opposed to the novel (which is FANTASTIC)), and Whispers in the Walls (a Spanish graphic novel).
And that's not counting all the stuff he bought!
(Yeah... we're prepping for Comic-con!)

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
I'm reading Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. I am really enjoying it, and now I see the movie will be released in June.
I will try and see it, and hopefully not be disappointed..Of all the things in life I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Re: The Official What Are You Reading In 2012?
It's far from a new book as it was released in 2006, but I'm currently reading The City of Falling Angels by John Berendt. If the name sounds familiar, he's also the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. In Angels he does for the city of Venice, Italy what he did for Savannah, GA and her denizens. While the focal point of Midnight was a murder, in Angels it's the fire that destroyed the historic Fenice Opera House. Berendt has a way of making each character interesting and once again succeeds in presenting a non-fiction book that reads much more like a novel. He needs to write more books! Definitely recommended.
