Have you ever ridden a horse (or a reindeer)?

Yes, we used to own a horse. His name was King George. My father's name was George so I guess he named the horse after him.

Yes, at a zoo type thing, though--not like really riding a horse riding a horse. Also, a camel and an elephant (not at the same time).

I grew up in 'horse country' out here in NJ. So I learned to ride at a young age. But around age 12, the girls stuck to horses while most of the guys turned to go-carts and other things with engines. I was one of those. Then, later, when I lived in Brazil, there were lots of opportunities. The guy who took care of a cabin I owned in the mountains owned two, and we would ride those when we wanted to. Friends would invite us to their weekend places (farms really) and we would ride. I'm not very good, but I can get where I'm going, if the horse is halfway cooperative. It's just not pretty.

Reindeer, no. But I've been close up to caribou in Alaska (see farthest North QoTD). Caribou are reindeer. It would not have been easy to ride those babies.

Once in the parking lot of the local grocery store when I was a kid. There was some festival there and it was sort of like a merry go round with live horses hitched to this round wooden thing. So it went around in circles a few times, but I was sitting on the horse so I consider that riding.

Never been on a reindeer, but my nieces get a kick out of the fact that one of the reindeer at Brookfield Zoo is named Heidi. No relation I keep telling them.

Anyone else think that when theDurk says he's not good at something like this, it means he'd only finish like third in the Kentucky Derby? I think there's a normal person scale of not being good at things and a theDurk scale of not being good at things. When theDurk says he's no good at mountain climbing, it means that he missed the record for fastest climb of Everest by a half hour.

I probably answered this last time with the story I'm going to tell:

Once on a vacation with a boyfriend when I was about 18, we went to Lake George and went "horseback riding." My boyfriend's horse was Rigor, and mine was Mortis.

Yes. Had 2 very bad experiences and almost got killed each time. Now they know I'm fearful and take advantage of that by doing what they want rather than what I want, so I don't ride anymore.

Reindeer don't look rideable but they're a lot more docile than their deer cousins so I wouldn't be surprised if somebody offers that up for small kids. They're also always shedding and look mangy as a result.

No. It means he would only win the Derby by 20 lengths instead of 30.

Yes, I went to sleep away summer camp every year as a child and always did horseback riding there. I loved it.

I did. But apparently it's frowned upon. My lawyer pleaded it down to a misdemeanor, I went on probation and whenever I move into a town that has horses I have to knock on the owner's door and let them know I live nearby.
