It's like a massive and very challenging browser based riddle. There are a bunch of them, and NotPron is one of the more notable ones. Basically, you start at the clue that says 1 and try to figure out how to get to 2, 3, 4, and so on. The answer could be as simple as clicking on a door in a picture to advance or as complicated as scouring the source code of the page or playing with your audio settings and speeding up or slowing down the music on a clue to hear it saying something (or playing it backwards). Someone I was friends with at the time and I got pretty far into it at one point quite a few years back. If I recall, the negative number ones were supposed to be the obscenely difficult ones. We never got anywhere near that far.

If anyone's interested in playing it after the description, keep in mind that there is some adult content involved, as it's purposely designed to have a kind of sketchy/uneasy feel to it. Also, if you're not that comfortable with the computer, it's not even worth trying. I consider myself pretty decent with computers and I didn't get all that far in the grand scheme of things, and if it wasn't for the use of spoilers on a handful that we were really stuck on we wouldn't have gotten even that far.

I think it has been a valiant effort. I, for one, would think no less of you if you gave up here. After all, the countdown you are on (really a count past...or something) has no endpoint, only a beginning point. Had you really planned on a lifetime of negative numbers?
