I mean, Bilbo was unconscious through the entire battle of 5 armies. There's like at least 30 minutes of screen time right there, haha. And from what I'm reading there's a LOT of stuff that happened in the appendices that Jackson can expand on.

I'm actually more excited for this now than I was before.

I can just imagine the add campaigns now -

If you could pick just one movie to celebrate the end of days - this is the movie to see!

Is the end of days something to celebrate? Maybe that would be the day to see a real stinker of a movie, hoping you won't have to sit through the whole thing.

One of the biggest peeves I have with LotR is The Shire. I hate it. It's boring. I'm not so sure I'll have much patience for this movies/movies. I'll check them out but they are on a short leash.

I watched the LotR trilogy while on flights to and from the west coast. I enjoyed them.
But really, it's more dugeons and dragons than anything else.
I was really hoping for more characters possessing some kind of powers.... Really only Gandalf had any powers.
Totally worth watching though, if you ask me.

I love that they are doing this in 3 movies, and that Jackson will be utilizing a lot of of Tolkien's appendicies. I bet they expand on Gandalf and the Battle at Dol Dulgur, which will be really awesome. I know money is the main reason for making this a trilogy, but at the end of the day if it gets us more Middle Earth action than who cares? I trust Jackson to do it well.

Thanks to Smeagol. He totally saves the third movie.

I didn't like the Smeagol character. Very Jar Jar Binks I thought.
I wish Samwise Gamgee would have just put him to death when he realized Smeagol was a bad seed...
But then I guess it wouldn't have been much of a story after that.

Samwise Gamgee spent three movies shouting, "Master Frodo! Master Frodo!" He didn't have enough time left over to do anything else.

Samwise had Smeagol by the throat at one point in movie 3. I was so praying he'd squeeze his head off like a zit....

He couldn't. It would have taken too much time away from yelling "Master Frodo! Master Frodo!"

Mistake. Two films at most, three is stupid.

Gollum is awesome. My dad and I can both do his voice to the point we freak people out.

A few of year of years ago, on world book day, each teacher had to choose a book chapter to read to the school. I chose the chapter where Gollum tracks Frodo and Sam through Emyn Muil. I did the voices etc. Some of the younger kids cried.

I saw the first one at a movie theater and I never had any desire to see the rest of the series
