Re: The Hobbit: 12/14/12
I mean, Bilbo was unconscious through the entire battle of 5 armies. There's like at least 30 minutes of screen time right there, haha. And from what I'm reading there's a LOT of stuff that happened in the appendices that Jackson can expand on.
I'm actually more excited for this now than I was before.I wish we could haz a Matt Harvey.

One of the biggest peeves I have with LotR is The Shire. I hate it. It's boring. I'm not so sure I'll have much patience for this movies/movies. I'll check them out but they are on a short leash.

Re: The Hobbit: 12/14/12
I watched the LotR trilogy while on flights to and from the west coast. I enjoyed them.
But really, it's more dugeons and dragons than anything else.
I was really hoping for more characters possessing some kind of powers.... Really only Gandalf had any powers.
Totally worth watching though, if you ask me.Welcome to NYYFans, the place where Yankees fans come together to complain about the manner in which our team is winning games.

Re: The Hobbit: 12/14/12
I love that they are doing this in 3 movies, and that Jackson will be utilizing a lot of of Tolkien's appendicies. I bet they expand on Gandalf and the Battle at Dol Dulgur, which will be really awesome. I know money is the main reason for making this a trilogy, but at the end of the day if it gets us more Middle Earth action than who cares? I trust Jackson to do it well.

Re: The Hobbit: 12/14/12
A few of year of years ago, on world book day, each teacher had to choose a book chapter to read to the school. I chose the chapter where Gollum tracks Frodo and Sam through Emyn Muil. I did the voices etc. Some of the younger kids cried.

Maybe Steve can start a count up thread for the premier last year?
