Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
Reports out there saying Bryzgalov has signed a 9 year, $51 million deal with Philli.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=369799
So Philli adds Bryzgalov, Schenn, Simmonds, Voracek and a first (8th overall), second and third round pick. Damn.....Not sure how I feel about this. Trading Richards is shocking, despite the return they got.

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
Just got back from the Flyers Skate Zone. Heard about it down there at the rink.
Not suprised at all about the Flyers parting with Carter and Richards. The Flyers loved Carter in 1/3rd of the ice. He was a liability in the other 2/3rds.
Richards is no suprise either. Flyers didn't like his leadership or work ethic AFTER signing the big contract. You won't hear it on the news, but it's true. Pronger is more of a leader then Richards was.
The sad thing is that what the Flyers are getting in return doesn't make them a better team now, or even in the near future.[

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
I think these trades have more to do with off the ice issues.
Supposedly both Richards and Carter partied. and locker room problems.
Richards and Laviolette didn't get along either.
Hartnell is still there, but I think he's another partier.
Also for Richards and Carter both have NMC/NTC kicking in another 1 and 2 years.
I guess the Flyers didn't want to be stuck with them.

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
He basically did crap out. Paul had to go into the Pawn Stars shop and try to get what he could for two very expensive items. The owner offered him something low, and Paul had to do it. Paul can't be faulted here IMO. He knew he wasn't going to get good value in return, but needed to clear money for the new goalie.
I'm suprised Hartnell is still in the orange and black. Perhaps nobody wanted him.[

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
Wow some interesting deals for Philly. Trading Carter isnt surprising, but I didnt see them dealing away Richards. JMO, but I dont think Bryzgalov is a big time goalie at all. I see that contract being one that's gonna really hurt the Flyers.
Obviously there has to be more moves coming because they need to replace goal scoring.

Best of the draft from 1970-2010. And remember that Rick Tocchet was taken in the 7th round. Patrick Roy was taken in the 3rd round. Luc Robitaille was taken in the 9th round.
Ron Hextall was drafted in the 6th round.[

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
This last NHL season was one of the worst for me.
Seeing that bandwagon Bruin fanbase hold the cup, ugh.
When 4 years ago the Thrashers had more STH than the Bruins, and in 2003 the Bruins couldn't sell out playoff games, while us Ranger fans sold out from 98-04 with no playoff appearances...amazing we won 4 division titles in our history...4...the Bruins won TWO from 98-04 and they said their "medicore" play was a mulligan for ignoring hockey.
Why does Boston get away with so much bull?

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
I don't hate the Bruins like I hate the Sox & Celts, but I am tired of Boston teams winning. My wife's cousin's son is 12 and at a BBQ last week he was saying how all 4 of his teams have won a championship in his lifetime and how awesome that was. I wanted to drop kick him.

Re: Official NHL Thread: 2011-2012 Season
As long as New York City/Northern New Jersey area don't go into an entire decade of not winning a world title with all big four pro sports leagues in play like Boston did (my apologies to the fans of Boston teams) in the 1990s, they'll be alright.

Blueline help for Team Teal: San Jose Sharks trade F Devin Setoguchi to the Minnesota Wild for all-star D Brent Burns
http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news?slu...ld-sharkstrade
I think the Sharks win this deal. San Jose needed a top-four defenseman since losing Rob Blake to retirement and also ease the burden of Dan Boyle and they have it with Burns.
