Up here anyway, it got a ton of attention. All of it positive and, in my mind, deservedly so. I can't stand the guy, but it was a great moment and was kind of the perfect thing to say at the time.

He definitely said it. I was watching live and there were clips of it up on youtube a couple days ago. On the live NESN feed it wasn't censored, but when they replayed the clip later it was.

Yup, typical Aceves, get bombed and it's everyone else's fault.

I swear Aceves was not this much of a malcontent when he was here. I actually think he was beloved by his teammates.

Ace does have a point. The Sox only needed to score 13 runs to get him off the hook.

Something must have happened to his brain. His current teammates must really despise him.

I agree that Aceves seemed pretty stable while here. He's gone full insano though.

I remember when Cashman got absolutely skewered for letting him go.

Who knows....didn't the game end early? It could have been 20 runs.

    Happy Birthday btw!

I saw a brief glimpse of the Sox game when they were down 13-0, and granted there weren't many in the stands at that point, but my first thought was after seeing some folks actually still in attendance was "anyone sitting in that awful weather watching a 13-0 ballgame is certifiably insane".

Aceves was optioned to Pawtucket today. Daniel Bard was recalled from AA Portland. It's high time. It's one thing to put up with bad behavior if you are getting some kind of performance. But when you suck, there is no reason at all why the team should put up with it. Let's see if a stretch in the minors humbles Aceves somewhat.

He has pitched his last game at Fenway (unless as a visitor).

Watched the Angels game tonight, they didn't have a starter available and used up the bullpen. My money is on Ace wearing a Halo shortly.

"I don't think I smiled in two years," the Dodgers outfielder tells USA TODAY Sports of his time on a troubled team in Boston.

"I was just frowning, I started growing grey hairs on my face from the stress and everything for two years straight," he says, stroking the stubble on his chin and grinning —

Sox fans can only now grin about this play.

Bummer. I was hoping he'd stay with the Sox. I knew they'd let him go though - I'm surprised it took this long.

BTW, what a difference not having Valentine around. No drama. Another bummer.

If Bard actually comes back and doesn't suck, I really like their pen.

Tazawa/Uehara/Bard/Bailey has the potential to be very good. The Uehara non-signing still annoys me.
