Re: The Red Sox Thread
And that goes for your curly-haired boyfriend, too.As I was walking back to the press box after the workout, David Ortiz stepped out of the team’s weight room bearing two Hummer-sized dumbbells. “Hey, Gordon,’’ he shouted. “These are my PEDs. Take that, [expletive].’’A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.- Barry Manilow

I thought I read somewhere that Lackey lost 60lbs or something...Farrell says 17 since this time last year - not sure if he lost more before that but this image of him running, he looks a lot smaller:

Looks like Curt Schilling day at Fenway has been postponed
http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index...curt_schi.htmlFORT MYERS, Fla, - First, the bloody sock went up for auction.
Now Curt Schilling's uniform number has been given to a guy who has no assurance he will even make the team.

"One-time Sox prospect Ryan Westmoreland retires
Posted 1 hour ago

By John Tomase / Boston Herald
Red Sox outfielder Ryan Westmoreland announced his retirement today, ending a career tragically cut short by multiple brain surgeries.
”With a clear mind and heart, as well as the unwavering support and friendship of my family, friends, agent(s), doctors, therapists and the Boston Red Sox, I have decided to voluntarily retire as a professional baseball player,” Westmoreland wrote in an e-mail to the Providence Journal. “Although it is a very difficult decision for me, it has become clear that the neurological damage caused by the most recent cavernous malformation and surgery leaves me with physical challenges that make it impossible to play the game at such a high level.”"

That's rough. Hopefully he'll have his health and a normal life.

Re: The Red Sox Thread
Westmoreland is going to find that path. Sounds like an exceptional young man. Best wishes to him.I believe that there is a plan for me that will utilize my experiences, however painful some may have been, to do something special in my life. It is time for me to find that path, and to pursue it with the same focus and effort that I pursued the dream of playing professional baseball.”September 28, 2008 - the day the HOF got a wake-up Moose call.

That still appears to be the case
http://bostonherald.com/sports/red_s...o_canada_brawlMuch to the delight of Red Sox players, who cheered him on while watching TV in the clubhouse, Sox right-hander Alfredo Aceves found himself in the middle of tonight's wild Canada-Mexico braw in the World Baseball Classic.
ESPN footage showing another view of Aceves being taken down, and the Canadian guy running away.
