I am surprised that weasel Lucchino didn't blame McClure for being the leak that painted Francona as a drug addict.

4 players attend Pesky's funeral. Papi, Buch, Salty, and Padilla.

But, a majority of the team attends Beckett's Beckett bowl country music show later that night.

Pedroia continues to be the biggest farce in the sport. How this tool was ever considered a "team leader" is beyond me.

He dives after a lot of ground balls. That goes a long way with some people, apparently.

I don't see why they should be expected to go to Pesky's funeral, most of them probably hardly knew the guy.

Here is the kicker - Josh Beckett invited Kevin Fowler to sing at the charity event. Who is Keven Fowler? Watch this entire music video. Especially at the 2:06 mark.

None of them knew Jackie Robinson, does that mean they can't pay him due respect?

    Wow, this is over-the-top.

They can respect the guy without going to his funeral.

    This was before tonight's game:

A routine question about what the rotation would be for the four-game series against the Royals that starts Friday set off manager Bobby Valentine. “Who cares who’s pitching? Why is this such a big thing?” he said. “There’s a lot of things going on that, unless we just want to start some stir on something, I don’t think there’s any reason to talk about it.”

jaysonst Before this crazy season, #RedSox had lost 1 game since 1933 where they scored 12+ runs. If this score holds this will be 2nd time this year

(EDIT: they only scored 9 runs on 4/21 -- thought it was that game he was referring to.)

they say things like that a lot in their game threads about Padilla...like after he strikes someone out or something they will say he was working fast so he can get the game over with so he can get back to the bodies in his trunk...or if someone gets a hit, now he'll kill their family. it's so funny because he looks so insane.

I would have given him a pass on this one because his wife is 9 months pregnant and on bed rest and I can imagine it's difficult to leave her on your off day when you're on the road a lot...but then he went to Beckett's thing so my pass has been taken back.

Given the state of our pen and the fact he had 112 appearances prior to last night as a Saux with a 3.07 ERA, I would say, "Yes, definitely!"

    Re: The Red Sox Thread

I agree with Ortiz..Lester seems to be a bit defensive.

David Ortiz, one of four Boston Red Sox players who attended Monday's funeral for Red Sox icon Johnny Pesky, said all of his teammates "probably" should have attended, "but I'm nobody to say who should and who should not (have gone)."
"Me personally, I was close to Johnny and when it comes down to his funeral situation, there's no reason why you don't show up when a friend passes away," Ortiz said. "I felt like I needed to be there for him and his family. Everybody has their particular reasons why some of the guys didn't show up. We came back from New York very late and some of the guys probably had some things to do that day and that's probably the reason why some of the guys didn't show up."
"If this is about Johnny Pesky, I'm not talking about it," pitcher Jon Lester said. "All it is is gossip, and has nothing to do with what's going on in here."
