Just gave up the 5 runs. That's not too shabby for him this year.

He just gave up a 3 run homer in the 2nd inning. I wonder if he's a guy who needs a change of scenery.

edit: and a solo shot to Rajai Davis of all people. That makes 3 home runs in two innings.

Lester had a career worst game score of -3, which is the second worst this season ahead of only a start by Burnett. Lester's worst two career game scores were both against Toronto. He had the worst game score by an AL pitcher since Scott Kazmir on July 10, 2010.

To be fair to the pitchers, the only reason they are able to achieve such low game scores is because of bad managing. If a pitcher just doesn't have his stuff, why would you leave him in there to give up 11 or 12 runs?

Bobby V has proven himself to be a genius at managing a pitching staff all season long.

He'd probably be a lot smarter about managing the pitching staff if his top two starters pitched better.

He didn't need to prove anything. He's always been a genius, at every aspect of managing. Just ask him, he'll tell you.

I haven't heard it discussed much either, but found this link --- and even in this, they downplay it after the host brings it up.

I just saw the 1st inning, but he was glaring in at the ump right from the start. Does he not realize it's counterproductive and makes him look like a douche?

I've been saying for awhile that at the very least he looks bloated and retaining water and unhealthy...not sure if that is why he's pitching bad but who knows...

it's really annoying...even most Red Sox fans can admit it's really annoying and doesn't do him any favors...

Not to fear Lester, Bobby is going to talk to you:

Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said he plans to have a conversation with pitcher Jon Lester after batting practice as the team prepares to face the Texas Rangers on Monday night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

"We'll see if we can make a plan and get him straightened out, going on the right track," Valentine said.

"Just a conversation. It's not anything that has to get deep. We have to talk and figure it out. We're not solving the world corn crisis.
"You let him know that if you're that far down, there's only one way to go and that's up. I believe in him. I know nobody else in this room does, but I do. That's a good start and maybe if he's sitting in here that will make two of us by the time he leaves."
1 - why does he have to announce to the press that he's going to have a sit down with him?
2 - why does he have to say that nobody in the room (i'm assuming he means the press) have no faith in him to turn it around...

    omg - he's such a douche...

I'm assuming he was referring to the media in the room, but if not then you're right in that it was a moronic thing to say.

Even better, Corn Nuts are like $1 a bag. If we all send Bobby V one bag, every member of RSN can plant a few corn nuts in their backyards. MMMmmmm BBQ flavored corn...
