Re: The Red Sox Thread
"The hard-nosed, gritty second baseman plays with an edge that motivates teammates and inspires the littlest of little leaguers to try their hardest."
I have heard tales of this grittiness..."I'm sorry Smokey, you were over the line, that's a foul....mark it zero Dude, next frame"

Re: The Red Sox Thread
Caught the replay of that game with a friend last night and we must have dragged about 10 minutes of material out of that. To be fair, I guess ST is the best time to work on your pimp and/or cadillac moves.
Rays tallied 13 hits but only scored 4 runs in the loss. It seems like this ................ happens to the Sox at least 10 games every season and it really pisses me off to be on the other side of those.

Bard back to the bullpen? This wouldn't surprise me if true..
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index...-and-the-bard/The Daniel Bard experiment might be over. After the right-hander posted a bloated 7.11 ERA in just 12.2 innings this spring as a starter, the Boston Red Sox now plan to return Bard to the bullpen. While Boston had big plans for the 26-year-old — the team traded for relievers Andrew Bailey and Mark Melancon this past offseason — the move back to the ‘pen shouldn’t be seen as a failure.

Re: The Red Sox Thread
I love your obsession with his obsession.
More on Bard - from BMV - big mouth valentine:
http://www.nesn.com/2012/03/bobby-va...ing-staff.html"I don't think that even with his good stuff I could handle the walks," Valentine said. "Now I don't know if [it's the] spring...and trying to impress. That's why I looked for the changeup. If there was a pitch he wasn't comfortable with and that was causing some of these negative counts, I would have been able to use that as an excuse."
Earlier in the week, the Red Sox skipper preached the urgency for Felix Doubront to showcase "a killer pitch." Considering Bard only tossed one changeup –– a pitch in development –– on Tuesday, Valentine echoed those sentiments in regards to Bard.
"He's got to understand that pitch," Valentine said. "It could really be that pitch that gets the contact when we need some soft contact situations."
As a result of Bard's recent hurdles, CSNNE.com reported that he could return to the bullpen in favor of Doubront and Alfredo Aceves as the team's No. 4 and 5 starters.

http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/...game-hit-pitchBoston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia left Thursday's exhibition game against the New York Yankees with a right forearm bruise after getting hit by a pitch.
Yankees starter Adam Warren's pitch in the third inning hit Pedroia just above the right hand while he was swinging at a third strike.
Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said during an in-game interview on ESPN that when he and team trainers approached the plate, Pedroia's hand was shaking, resulting in the decision to remove him from the game.

Re: The Red Sox Thread
so, accusing people of lying over a ST game..okay.When a New York reporter told Valentine that Girardi said he wanted to preserve his pitching and the Yankees "had a long day tomorrow," Valentine wasn't buying it.
"They had plenty of pitching," Valentine said. "Probably too long of a ride."
Boo hoo Bobby...Valentine said typically a manager walks over and says he's out of pitching.
"Joe knows better than I," Valentine said. "I guess you just walk off the mound. I'm sure he didn't do anything deliberate. I have to answer to a pitcher trying to make the team."
