Lin and Novak awarded Larry Bird Rights and Knicks can keep their MLE.

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
Knick fans already talking Nash. I don't know how I feel about that.
On one hand, I don't want controversy during the season on who to start and backup.
On the other hand, having 2 quality PGs for 2 units is great.
On the third hand I don't have, I would love sign Odom.
Bought time something went right for the Knicks.

That's huge. Still a LONG way to go before they can compete on the level of the two teams we saw in the Finals, but this helps matters.

Great news.
Now, how serious are they on the Italian PG Prigioni?

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
It may not be a huge deal, as they can only offer $3 mil of the $5 mil MLE before going over the threshold and being subjected to a hard cap for the rest of the season, according to Coon.

Somehow the Knicks have 12-1 odds to win the title next year. That's 5th best.

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
In light of what happened last night....I dont see how its possible to show any excitement about this team going forward. They have no chance to get good enough to beat Miami, who now they've figured out how to win, just might run off a few in a row. Or at the very least, are probably gonna develop a Celtics-Lakers 1980s rivalry with OKC. Very depressing.

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
Strange - ESPNews had the Knicks at 12-1...the below link has them at 35-1. Sixers are 40-1.

Anyone who bets on the Knicks to win the Championship at 12-1 deserves to lose their money.

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
I'm guessing fans are considering Ray Allen because Shumpert will be out at-least 2 month?
I still want Ama're coming off the bench. Don't think Woodson has the cojones to do it though
Chandler
Harrellson (I wouldn't mind him starting. Someone that rebounds and plays D and can hit a outside shot once in awhile would be ideal at the 4 with Melo/Chandler)
Anthony
Shumpert(when he gets back)Allen
Lin
Odom
Stoudemire
Novak
Allen/Shumpert
Nash

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
lol, the NBA is a classy league
"Lin is a restricted free agent, so the Knicks can match any offer sheet for him. With the union win, Lin’s early-Bird rights contract with the Knicks can be longer and more lucrative. Lin now can sign a four-year Knicks deal at $24.5 million. The Bird-rights starting salary would be $5.5 million, according to a source, with 7.5 percent raises each season.
No other team can offer Lin more than the $5 million mid-level in the first two years under the Gilbert Arenas Rule. Nevertheless, there is a scenario where the Knicks could get “punked’’ by another club in a back-loaded deal that would be the third-year poison pill. A club under the cap could offer Lin a three-year deal with the third year at the maximum — $15 million. The Knicks still can match the offer, but they would put themselves in a luxury-tax nightmare."

What's the Knicks draft status as to what draft choices they have for this week's draft?

From the stuff I've heard, doesn't sound like Nash is coming here.
Sounds like he's going where the money is...

Let the Kostas Papanikolaou era begin.
Don't know anything about the guy but I guess with only a second round pick and given the state of the roster, better to do a draft and stash and hope he can help in a year or two.

Re: The 2011-2012 New York Knicks Thread
Rumors flying around about Fields/Shumpert for Nash. Can't see it happening TBH but that court ruling was huge for us. Would love to see Shuttlesworth or Kidd here if we can't get Nash.
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."
