    Re: Larry Rothschild Performance Thread

I think Rothschild was a fine choice but it's entirely too soon assign him any credit (or blame) for anything that's happened to this point.

    Re: Larry Rothschild Performance Thread

Rothschild gets direct credit for helping Hughes re-work his mechanics, and the grip on his curve, which resulted in a much improved performance today.
In general, the 2011 pitching staff has done remarkably well, and in my opinion, it's no longer too early to assign a big share of the credit to the new pitching coach.

    Re: Larry Rothschild Performance Thread

AJ publicly credited Rothschild and Martin with making him throw his changeup.

That alone is worth Rothschild's paycheck.

    Re: Larry Rothschild Performance Thread

Larry Rothschild is a huge improvement over the prior PC. In fact he's the best PC the Yanks have had for a long time.

So is he this good or was Eiland that bad?
A fool and his money can throw one heck of a party!

    Probably a little of both.

Probably both, although I think Rothschild is also getting some good luck (e.g., Colon) in addition to being a better PC

Absolutely. This team probably doesn't make it this far (maybe farther) with this pitching staff out of ST with Dave Eiland. LR seems to make in-game adjustments....seems to have helped AJ and Nova the most.

Eiland getting another crack at a pitching coach job at KC.

They got piles of young pitchers in the system. Let's see how he will do.

    To do list for 2012
    • Teach Pineda an adequete change up.
    • Help Hughes regain his curveball
    • Keep the bullpen as productive as last year
    • Help Soriano become useful
    • Dump Burnett in the Hudson River

    Have i missed any out?
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

This implies Burnett makes it to New York. Can he dump him somewhere in FLA?

I don't know any rivers in Florida. My geographical knowledge of the U.S is limited

Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico are two great starting points. Don't forget the Everglades, either.

If he turns Pineda into 1A, then he pretty much needs a lifetime contract similar to what Wakefield used to have.

SSS and all, but I'm bumping this thread because this man deserves some props.

What exactly is he doing that Eiland didn't do?
