Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
These aren't actually Sickels' rankings. A poster on his site came up with these rankings based on Sickels' grade valuation system along with Victor Wang's $ value set on each type of prospect - for example, the $ value of an "A" hitter is higher than an "A" pitcher, because of the higher likelihood of a pitching prospect being a bust.
Good to see the Yanks at #6 anyway though. Jim Callis also has them as a top-6 system.

Oh, ok, thanks! That was good clarification!
I am glad to see the Yankees system getting a lot of love from the people who rank these things.I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
Keith Law also revealed his rankings..
Not surprisingly, he ranked the Yankees lower than any other sources (9th) and the Red Sox higher than any other source (11th).
Most feel the Yankees system is top 5 or close and the Sox below average, yet Law has them almost equal.
Not surprising I suppose, considering the source.I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
Based on the below tweet, it seems as though Callis has left ManBan off his top 100 list entirely -
jimcallisBA Jim Callis
Want to see improved stuff over more than 60 IP. @mrconti: no banuelos on list due needing to see full yr but kelly, ranaudo, cole make it?

A side note both Callis and Manuel have Montero at #3 while Lingo has him at #4.

Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
Yeah Manuel has us with four top 20 prospects in the game... I value his opinion over anyone else there. Lingo is meh and Callis is biased. Manuel is a Red Sox fan as well, but he tends to have his moments for and against the Yankees. I find him to be the most stable guy out there though.

Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
Was watching the MLB network top 50..
Seems to be a lot of disparity on things.
They had Montero at #9, which seemed low to me..
They had Banuelos in the top 25 I think, Betances not even on the top 50 list.
Gary Sanchez was in the 30's I think...
(Montero, Banuelos and Sanchez the only Yankees they had top 50).
They did not, at least as far as I know, rank teams from an organizational standpoint..I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

Re: 2011 Minor League System Rankings
See I drop the hell of of a guy's credibility when they do things like this.
I can see someone deciding to rank a guy a bit lower because of small sample size, but when the world says a guy is top 20 or 30 material, and then one guy just decides he is not even top 100, it just costs you credibility.
It is one thing to say you think the Red Sox will win the division next year, it is another to say the Yankees will finish last.
The first statement, while we may disagree, is not far fetched. The second one is just unintelligible.
I mean, Banuelos might have a small sample size compared to others, but I'd rather have a small sample of dominance than a larger sample of mediocrity (Casey Kelly for instance).I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..
