Re: Bobby Jenks
Jenks is going to the Rays? Sweet! That's at least 2 9th inning wins for the Yankees against the Rays this year.

Re: Bobby Jenks
werent there people saying the yankees should consider picking up the option on wood or atleast offering arb? which would have paid him close to 11mil so why are we so against paying 5-6mil to jenks? maybe i remember it wrong though

Re: Bobby Jenks
Jenks is ideal for a team like the Nationals -- also, given what I've read about his temperament, set-up duties wouldn't do the trick

Igawa: That's secret.

Re: Bobby Jenks
It's a good time to be a free agent reliever, and one of the biggest on the market (both literally and figuratively) is former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that there is "heavy action" on the right-hander, with both the Rays and Yankees showing interest. Jenks is not close to a decision, however.

Re: Bobby Jenks
The Rays can give him the closer role, while the Yankees can give him more money. Please pick the money.

Re: Bobby Jenks
Get Jenks and Soriano.
Pray whoever is our number 5 starter can keep us in the game through 6 then throw 3 closers out there.

Re: Bobby Jenks
Woods is asking for 3 years at 6 million per. I don't know Jenks would ask for to be a set up man.

Re: Bobby Jenks
I saw this on Rotoworld. I dunno the validity.
According to Chicago Tribune, the White Sox have made a two-offer to free agent reliever Kerry Wood.
They may pull that offer off the table in the wake of Wednesday's signing of Jesse Crain. Or maybe the White Sox are looking to entirely revamp the back-end of their bullpen. Wood posted a stellar 1.23 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in 26 innings as a setup man for the Yankees this past season. He's thought to be seeking a three-year contract worth around $6 million per year."Well guess what? He's dead. You just signed a dead guy." --pleasepassthesoup

Re: Bobby Jenks
Crain, Benoit, Downs, and Guerrier have all inked 3 year deals. It's no surprise that Jenks, along with every other reliever, is looking to cash in on a multi-year deal.
It's going to be tough to land any reliever on a 1 year deal in this new market.~John

Re: Bobby Jenks
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but Bobby Jenks has one of the most amazing paths to success in professional baseball.
Not like it's a Disney movie or anything, but it's very unconventional starting when he didn't even play baseball for his high school team because he sucked in school - and still got drafted. Then the drinking problem which made the Angels flat-out release him even though he was throwing 100 MPH, then the major surgery...it's crazy.Jaret Wright's 2005 Cy Young Season: 20-3, 3.04 ERA
