Fab sticking around:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...ngland&cc=5901
The arrogance of Barcelona is amazing. They must have thought that disrespecting Arsenal with lowball contract offers and coming out with countless statements the likes of "Cesc needs to win" (as if Arsenal is a small club) was the way to get Fab. Wrong! At least til next summer
. At least maybe then, Barcelona will stop trying to be cheap and realize that for players as good and as crucial to their clubs as Cesc is to Arsenal, that you have to overpay. No money, no honey.

Well, the EPL curtain raiser, the FA Community Shield will be played from Wembley Stadium, London on August 8th at 15:00 BST.
EPL and FA Cup winners Chelsea will look to snatch up a third trophy in 2010 by trying to win their 5th English Supercup and their 22nd major honor overall.
Carlo Ancelotti and the Stamford Bridge Blues take on a familiar foe: Sir Alex Ferguson, Wayne Rooney and Manchester United.
The Red Devils will look to grab a second trophy in 2010 after winning the 2010 Carling Cup in February. United has the most FA Charity/Community Shield trophies with 17 (13 outright and 4 shared).
If they win their 18th FA Shield, United will also tie Liverpool for the most officially recognized major honors (Old First Division 1/EPL title, FA Cup, League Cup, FA Charity/Community Shield, European Cup/UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, UEFA Cup/Europa League, UEFA Intertoto Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup/FIFA Club World Cup) with 58.
This will be the fifth meeting between Chelsea and Manchester United in the curtain raiser with the teams splitting the first four meetings and three of them were decided on penalties. Manchester United defeated Chelsea in 1997 and 2007, both by penalties while Chelsea had the other two wins in 2000 and 2009.It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.

Re: 2010-11 English Club Football/Soccer Thread
That is the 18th FA Charity/Community Shield trophy for Manchester United in 27 appearances.
And also, Manchester United ties Liverpool for the most officially recognized trophies in English football with 58.
What a debut for Chicharito, Javier Hernandez. The former Chivas striker came off the bench to replace Michael Owen and scored a goal.
Looks like Wayne Rooney found his scoring partner since Cristiano Ronaldo left Old Trafford.
Antonio Valencia and Dimitar Berbatov also scored for United while Salomon Kalou scored Chelsea's lone goal. It's not the 27 World Championships that drive the New York Yankees. It's the 28th.
