Slade Heathcott
Well short season is nearly a month away, and I anticipate Slade Heathcott's season at Staten Island. I'm looking forward to a solid season of development at Staten Island. If he is injury free and plays the full season at Staten Island (about 60 games) I anticipate the 19 year old first round pick to excite Yankees with a solid average (e.g., 280-310), and upwards of high single digit dingers (6-10).
Heathcott will probably start the season as the leadoff hitter - I'm excited to see how many stolen bases he gets, and his development as a true five-tool player. Can't wait to see the kid play.Royal Flush: Hughes, Sabathia, Betances, Brackman, Banuelos.

Re: Slade Heathcott
if everything goes well, our OF by 2011 will be heathcott, gardner, and colin curtis with greg golson as a legit option off the bench

I see the Royal Flush has been revised. I'm surprised Z-Mac is one of the five.

and then if everything goes well on the pitching side of things, we could see betances and brackman being weened into the majors in the bullpen by 2011 as well, with betances eventually stepping into the rotation when CC opts out and brackman staying in to take care of 8th innings duties after joba inherits the crown from mariano

Re: Slade Heathcott
No way, man. 200 > 70. Brackman HAS to be in the rotation

Re: Slade Heathcott
brackman doesn't get as amped up when he starts a game... he needs the thrill of the 8th to get his juices flowing and throw hard

Great, more armchair analysis. Are you at all familiar with his stuff?

Re: Slade Heathcott
of course, he throws somewhere in the 90's, but when he has some added adrenaline going, he can hump it up into somewhere in the 90's

Best Yankee prospect since Mantle or Ruben Rivera.

Re: Slade Heathcott
haha I used to just lurk around here and I remember seeing that and thinking that was pretty cool. I can't even remember the original one but I know it had Clippard in it haha.

I never had Clippard in the flush. I never saw him as an elite starter.

I'm really looking forward (and some regret at it being the last show) to Sunday.
It turns out that JR Murphy got assigned to C-Town. I hope they still put Slade in SI, its closer to home for me.

Re: Slade Heathcott
He's most similar (coming out of HS, and, as an athlete) with Ron Blomberg (1st overall pick in 1967). Unfortunately the Yankees started platooning Blomberg and he never became an every day player. Lets hope we get more out of Slade's career.

Re: Slade Heathcott
Bloomberg's problem was he was injury prone, like Nick Johnson. Always had problems with his shoulder cause he was so muscle bound and swung so hard. When he did play regularly, he was a very good hitter. A shame injuries ruined his career.

Re: Slade Heathcott
With the platooning and the injuries he never quite lived up to expectations, although he sure flashed while he played for us.

Although this article
http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/03/28/s...hitting-prosp/
was posted earlier this spring, it should give Yankee fans something to go on with respect to the kind of player we can expect as Heathcott starts short season baseball at Staten Island in less than three weeks.Royal Flush: Hughes, Sabathia, Betances, Brackman, Banuelos.

I saw him on Facebook messenger earlier today and was actually going to ask him, but I got caught up in work.
