So..... given that I'm cheap and never buy a name brand anything: if I buy generic ibuprofen, is that advil or motrin... or just ibuprofen?

Btw, just so we can bore the crap out of everyone else in the LTE: I'm going to see Don Pasquale (Donizetti) tonight. Also Nixon in China on Wednesday and La Boheme on the 25th.

You're buying ibuprofen. Motrin/Advil are brand names for the ibuprofen generic.

I almost always buy generic, but my hubby and Shannen swear there is a difference. I only take ibuprofen and the store brand works just as well for my headaches as Advil.

I always buy Motrin. I've never bought generic. That's just how I roll.

I'm sad watching Andy Pettitte say good bye. Damn I'm going to miss watching him pitch in the Bronx.

Sometimes there is a difference. maybe not with ibuprofen but with other drugs. I know lipitor and the generic statin aren't exactly the same. Also, it depends on the manufacturer for the generic.

Exactly the same. Although my wife swears by Advil

I'm an office manager at a doctor's office. I started out doing MA work, then worked my way up. I trained all the girls that work there now.

I believe the main difference is that Advil has less ibuprofen in it than Motrin which is why Motrin probably upset your stomach. So you could take Advil more often than Motrin since it's smaller doses.

I was gonna say that you can get Motrin RX for larger doses, but not Advil.

Then again, the smaller pill would probably be easier.

I'm jealous. I'll have to go to the Met website and see who is performing because I've lost track of this season.

I'm sure they're using the same stage production of La Boheme that I saw last year which was outstanding.

I once had prescription ibuprofen and wondered the same thing.

They gave me a script for 800 mg of Motrin after my surgery which became 800 mg of generic Ibuprofen because my insurance requires to substitute generics when they are available (which is fine with me). The only benefit was it was dirt cheap because the insurance picked up the cost. My true out of pocket cost of taking 4X 200 mg of OTC ibuprofen would have been much higher than the script I was given for 800 mg.

I was freezing when I went out earlier today, and by the time I was headed home, it felt so much warmer (I think it was around 34). I cranked the heat, put my "butt warmer" on and opened the sunroof! The breeze felt so good.

I opened the windows in the house for a couple hours today. Comparatively speaking to recent weather, this was like a Spring day today.
