Came home from work to a blackout in my neighborhood. Ate pizza in the dark then went out to complete the Christmas Shopping.

Power was back on when we got home.

I read something somewhere about the Amish (generally the younger ones) being a huge source of growing pot. That struck me funny, too.

I talked to my son today. My granddaughter and daughter-in-law are back home - everything is fine. This is the amusing part - the hospital, Beth Israel, is the "official" hospital of the Red Sox (it's right down the street from Fenway). When they released my granddaughter they gave her a Red Sox hat and a certificate for a tour of Fenway Park when she turns 5 years old.

I'm telling ya', I'm facing an uphill battle here.

My friends works there and she continues to wear her Yankees scrub cap in the ER as well as her "It doesn't take brain surgery" t-shirt when she's doing surgery. She finds it appalling that they send the letter home and all the other crap that goes along with it. She showed me the letter.....it explains a lot about their pathetic team and fanbase. I find it sickening.


Jenn, we were cut from the same mold. I find it really gross that they do that.

I think it's Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. That's significant, since from 1901-02, before they were the Yankees, they were known as the NY Highlanders.They played at Hilltop Park, which was located at 168th & Broadway, where CBMC is located.

If you look carefully, there's a small placque on the sidewalk outside the entrance that acknowledges this.

Columbia Presbyterian merged with New York Hospital and Cornell-Westchester to form New York-Presbyterian. It's all one big happy family now.

On a personal note...

I accepted a position (in principle) today for a position with the company that bought out part of my current employers business.

An offer letter is on it's way, but the terms will be similar (if not exact) to my current position.



Lot's of transition work to accomplish, but that is very favorable to the alternative of being out of work.


I think I may sleep tonight.

Outstanding, John - that's fantastic! I've been through a couple of those transitions and they're a lot of work but kind of exciting at the same time. I'm so happy for you!
