Selig to Step Down in 2012
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...7878474.column
I'll believe it when I see it. IIRC, there were talks that he was going to step down the last 2 times his contract was expiring soon. Still, how much longer can he go on? I'd have to imagine 2012 is likely going to be his last year, given his age.1923•1927•1928•1932•1936•1937•1938•1939•1941•1943•1947•1949•1950 1951•1952•1953•1956•1958•1961•1962•1977•1978•1996•1998•1999•2000 2009 27-TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS

Sneaky bastard. He planned it out so that the world would end when he stepped down!

I need to know who will replace him before saying it's a step in the right direction. He is bad, but someone did worse in the past, like Bowie Kuhn.

No way - the World Series was canceled under Bud's watch. That alone is worse than the collective years under Kuhn

False. I believe the correct analogy for your purposes is, "He's Voldemort."

John Henry being named commissioner would suck more.

Re: Selig to Step Down in 2012
There's talks that DuPuy might replace him. That would probably be a step in the wrong direction.

He's probably gonna hook up with Oprah.

Hopefully when somebody else becomes commissioner, the LDS will become a best-of-7. I'm sick of hearing Selig say that it's too difficult to do. It's only two potential games that you're adding on!

You will hear Lucchino's name as a possible replacement.

Before celebrating Bud's retirement, I would first want to know who the replacement is and yes that person could be worse.

Re: Selig to Step Down in 2012
Very true. I'm hoping the owners go in a completely different direction than Bud. But I doubt they will - he's been great for business so they love the guy.

Re: Selig to Step Down in 2012
My guess is along with yours. I think the next guy will be much more hard line and honestly it would not shock me to see the streak of years without a work stoppage come to an end in 2012. I hope I'm wrong.
