Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
Hey, since were pondering the preposterously improbable,
could Cashman offer a boatload of prospects for another elite pitcher (JJ) who's best years are probably ahead of him?
We all know the Marlins are always looking to shed salaries from their monsterous payroll...

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
This is yet another example of why I disagree that Cashman should give up the farm for Halladay. The free agent market is going to be flush with quality starting pitching in 2010-11.

He will cost a ton of prospects and dollars, and a little guy with that much pressure on his body, coming out of the NL West, is not worth it, IMO.

Maybe we can do some age-reversing voodoo on Koufax and Pedro as well. Put them back in their primes, we'd be unbeatable.

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
In all fairness, Pedro did start having some major injury issues around 31-32.

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
I keep reading that too - that his mechanics are great. I've never actually seen a slo-mo sequence or freeze frame breakdown of his delivery, but I agree. He does appear to be one degree from being a train wreck. Most of it seems to be from the shoulders, neck and head - as though it's almost a whiplash effect catching up to the rest of his body. Maybe it does work for him - I just wouldn't feel comfortable signing him to a long-term deal.

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but no to Lincecum. I would prefer Cashman wait until after 2010 to sign a free agent. Josh Johnson or any of the other major free agents. The team doesn't need a major piece; it just needs some small, useful pieces that support what is already in place.

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
that's a little overstated... basically, when he first signed with seattle as a minor league free agent, he made a comment about how he wouldn't have liked signing with the yankees because they're too straight laced for his tastes

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
Try and package Jeter for Timmy Lin..... Giants probably won't go for it, but show clips of jeter diving in the stands against the sox and mention all of the intangibles.... they are non-monetary so try to pump up their value and get the deal done.... I think Jeter and Molina could get the job done

He definitely would have to get a haircut.....unless that's the source of his strength.

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
No, you got it all wrong. We'll get Lincecum in 8 years. We'll sign him to an 8 year deal worth $120 million more than he's worth. Get it right.

Thread Revival!!
Some interesting post are now actually true...like someone joked we should also get Ichiro!!!
Well 4 years later does it make sense to go after Timmy boy at a much discounted price from when I originally posted this?

Ted Williams is still in a cryogenics tank (filled with liquid nitrogen and minus his head) waiting for technology to be developed to revive him and reattach his head. Any news how the technology has evolved and when it will be ready to revive him?
I'm sure Ted could still hit .400

Re: So let's get Lincecum.......
I would absolutely consider a deal for Tim Lincecum if I were Brian Cashman.
1. Yes, last year was rough, but he was DYNAMITE in the playoffs - albiet as a reliever, but it seems he found his groove.
2. His strikeout totals are still very impressive, which means his stuff is still good.
3. The price to acquire him would not be excessive.
I'd also consider Alfonso Soriano if either Ichiro or Gardner get hurt.“When you have the chance to take the ball for the World Champs, you take the ball.”—Roger Clemens
