Here in Montgomery County, MD the 1st day of Rosh Hashanah is a holiday and kids get off of school.

I hate honey cake. I think it's the Jewish version of Fruit Cake. I don't know anyone who likes it.

it's been almost 27 years since my bar mitzvah, and that was the last time i went to a synagogue (other than relatives' bar/bat mitvahs, funerals and the like).

so...i am no longer officially a jew, but i still consider myself jew-ish.
