    9/11/2009 - Yankees v Baltimore pregame

    Jeter SS
    Swisher RF
    Teixeira 1B
    Rodriguez 3B
    Matsui DH
    Posada C
    Cano 2B
    Cabrera LF
    Gardner CF

Sounds like a good chance for a rain out but if they play looks like it is Johnny Damon who get the rest day.

I take it you have tickets for tomorrow?

For those of us who have to deal with Fox Saturday blackouts, it will be pretty disappointing if they don't play tonight.

Agreed. If tonight gets rained out I'll be very unhappy.

Tomorrow's weather looks equally bad. They'll probably try to cram the DHer in on Sunday.

You could just root for Jeter to 0-fer tonight.

I will be blacked out for tomorrow's 1 P.M. game so, selfishly, I hope they play tonite so that I can witness Jeter's history making hit. ........btw, I predict a lead-off HR.

They NEED to play tonight. I have to work 13 hours tomorrow so I would miss it should he get the hit tomorrow

Am I the only one who doesn't care about the hit record?

What is the weather like in the Bronx right now and for tonight?

    Re: 9/11/2009 - Yankees v Baltimore pregame

Itís so dumb that theyíre going to play..and equally dumb that Joe is playing his starters. I guess he didnít learn when Posada got hurt in Detroit and then again against the Sox?

My father offered me tickets to the game (via my brother-in-law, who has great seats), but I wasn't about to go in this weather.......

Why? It just seems like such an odd thing, career franchise hits leader? Sure it's a nice novelty but in the greater scheme of things it's just going to be one of many by Jeter. I'd think 3,000 would be a big deal and then if he manages sticks around long enough to get and of these milesones: 3,500, 4,000 and 4,256 and 4,257.

The hype just seems so out of propotion to this particular record.

    It's because its the Yankees.
The, by leaps and bounds, most famous team in sports.
It is not like becoming the hit or HR leader on the Dbacks or Mets or Astros.

I for one, as a Yankee fan, find it significant.
I used to think I was crazy... Now I am sure of it..

Agreed. When the people you're passing on the franchise list are Babe Ruth and Lou Gherig that is incredibly significant.

Exactly. It's important because he'll have more hits than any other Yankee in their rich history and most of us have been watching him play his entire career.

Rainout after an off day? Come on, everyone agrees 2 straight days without baseball stinks.
