We'll add the 3 lefties next. (even though Venditte isn't really a lefty)
Does anyone feel Henry Pena Ramon Flores Jackson Valera Kelvin Duran Gian Arias Ericson Leonora Anderson Felix Melvin Croussett Luis Parache or Elio de la Rosa deserve any consideration on the next additions list. I like what we have there. Rey Nunez is fair, but I am not sure about any of these.Updated Minor League Depth Chart (In Progress)

Rulon, Checo and the "other" Heredia.
Speaking of the other Heredia, he did fairly well yesterday. As did the Melvinator.
Heredia threw 5 innings of 3 hit ball while walking zip and striking out 9. His ERA now sits at 0.32 in 57IP. I'm surprised this guy isn't getting more yakity yak around here. I realize he's a little light in the wallet, but the stats are stellar.
The Melvinator is a strikeout machine now at 43Ks in 25 innings. We have enough youth.
How about a fountain of "smart"?

Miranda, Horne, and Whelan.
The only reasons Miranda isn't higher on this list are his age and the fact that we have Teixeira at 1B. He's putting together another good minor league season just like he has every year since we signed him.
Horne is making his way back and should hopefully be ready to go for 2010 season when I'd expect him to be in major league training camp and in the SWB rotation to start the year. He should provide nice starting rotation depth next year and could even be a candidate to move to the bullpen where if fully recovered he'd have back-end stuff.
Whelan his stuff is about as good as almost any reliever in our system. Throughout his minor league career he has been extremely difficult to hit and strikes out a lot of batters. His one major weakness is his control which he seems to have shown some improvement on this year. He reminds me a lot of Brian Bruney not too long ago.

There's a reason guys like Heredia, Croussett, Quintana, Marcano, and other DSL pitchers are still over in the DSL and its either A) cause they weren't ready and/or B) they're not as good as some of the other guys we had slated for the GCL.

No prob. But we're not talking "most of them", just three or four of them.

It is easy to lose interest when you are on the 31st iteration of anything...

A few, not seriously? Sure, why not. My point is to put those guys down is that's merely that at this point in the voting we have a whole laundry list of pitchers getting it done in the US. We also have higher profile guys that aren't getting it done that project better.

Speaking of some of those guys. Why are Trent Lare and Jose A Ramirez not even on the Next additions list? They should probably be at or near the top of that.

Trent Lare isn't really a prospect I thought. Jose A. Ramirez maybe. I don't consider him better than Mikey O'Brien though.

Yea I guess Lare is on the old side, so maybe wait on him. I like both Ramirez and O'Brien. I actually think they're fairly similar. Both throw low 90's fastballs and have a curveball and changeup as their secondary pitches. Ramirez has had the better year. I also like his changeup more. O'Brien has better control though and is probably more polished. Both however should be one of the next additions
