    2nd Half Minor League Sleeper

Who do you think could be some breakout players for the second half? Mitch Abeita is quietly having a nice season in Charleston (I know he's a bit old for A- ball...)

I think Brandon Laird could breakout. Hes not really a sleeper, I just think he will show a lot more power

I agree with most of those guys, but I am really hoping Seth Fortenberry finally starts hitting and Justin Snyder gets adjusted to AA and Marcos Vechionacci finally hits the ball.

I think the ship has sailed on these guys you mentioned. Vech and Seth are in danger of being released during the offseason if not sooner.

I am going with Austin Krum. I think he adjusts to AA and makes an impact.

The ship probably sailed, but I am still pulling for them. Fortenberry doesn't have to hit monstrously. HE and Vech both have good defense (well not Vech this year) so for Fortenberry at least his arm can get him by. And Snyder will be better next year. Krum and Curtis should improve soon too.

I could definitely see Snyder and Laird doing something the second half. Fortenberry is gonna be released soon IMHO. He's too old to not be hitting. Vech is young enough that he might get one more chance next year, but I think he needs to be re-signed first.

Can't see that happening. He'll probably be shut down within a months time. He's also been laboring lately. Still I wouldn't categorize his rookie season as a failure. His overall numbers don't look good, but he showed some flashes of why he got the bonus money he did and why the Yankees felt he was ready to go straight into A ball out of highschool. He's also been hurt by what appears to be deadarm phase. He probably should've skipped a few starts.

Not on Snyder. He will get another season to see if he still can perform.

I'm with the folks who think B. Laird is the sleeper for the 2nd half. It will be almost impossible for him to match his HR total from last season though.

Another sleeper is D. Sublett. Check out his stats until this season. He can play, when healthy. Lately he has shown some signs of life. He also could quietly have a nice season if he finishes strong.

That's my prayer. But realistically, he will be limited innings-wise from here until the end of the season, so unless he gets his control under control (pun intended) he won't have much of an opportunity to show a vast improvement. IMO, of course.

    That's why he's a sleeper!

As far as Matt Richardson goes, he's already shrugged off the ability to even be considered a sleeper:

    His first four starts:

    22 IP, 15 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 18 K, 0.59 ERA
    Mo' Nut: One Smoove Brotha.

    Jaret Wright's 2005 Cy Young Season: 20-3, 3.04 ERA
