We really have two in there. That isn't too good. Funny how Murphy was in our selection in the first round.

I can respect his decision because I have worked with quite a few guys who played minor league ball and hockey who said after not making it they felt behind the 8 ball being they were pushing 30 and just getting started. I my self would have loved the chance to play but i can understand the flip side.

If you are the owners of the Yanks, this list is the best reason to oppose Comrade Bud's attempts to negotiate slotting and draft reforms. Why eliminate your cash advantage to help out your opposition?

Interesting to see small market Kansas City as paying to the nose for draft picks not drafted in the first round.

Re: 2009 Yankee Draft Pick Signings
This is all true- but it still begs the question- if you are the Yanks owner, why do you give up your biggest advantage? It is like asking California to use their state sales tax to help pay for problems in North Dakota, Idaho or Wyoming- sure it's fair, but why SHOULD they?

The Giants used to be the Yanks of the NFL- the team that benefitted from being in the NY market. What saved the NFL wasn't that the Giants owners agreed to slot the draft- they agreed to share the TV, radio and other revenue equally with all the other teams.
The owners don't need to players to agree to share all their revenues equally- they could just reach that agreement among themselves. Of course, the players could do just what the NFLPA did- and demand a certain percentage of said revenues to play (60%, I believe). Nonetheless, the point remains that until the owners get their own "ducks in a row," the players aren't going to do it for them.

Re: 2009 Yankee Draft Pick Signings
The Cape Cod top 30 prospect list from Baseball America is out today and it is interesting. Mainly for who is not on the list.
No Meade or Lyons, which surprised me. No Yankee draftees at all. What also surprised me was that apparently the talent level at the Cape this year was the worst in recent memory, so that is really damning for those excluded from this weak list.
So again, maybe the Yankees do know what players are actually worth, even if the players don't. But I wish the Yankees knew this information before drafting these guys. Well, I guess only Lyons was a busted pick, 10th round picks have some value.

not yet hopefully GCL soon. Only 1-4 games left depending on how the playoffs fall so maybe not.
