    Yankees call up Brandon Knight

    July 21, 2001

    New York (AP) – The New York Yankees recalled right-hander Brandon Knight from Triple-A Columbus Saturday and sent down right-hander Brett Jodie one day after he lost his major league debut.

    Jodie’s stint with the Yankees lasted only 13 batters. He allowed three homers, including a leadoff shot to Jose Cruz Jr., in a 10-4 loss to Toronto. In all, Jodie gave up six runs and seven hits in two-plus innings.

    Knight made two relief appearances for the Yankees last month, allowing six runs and 10 hits in five innings. He was 9-6 with a 4.09 ERA for Columbus.

    He should return to Columbus when Justice is activated.

    The only way he'll get to pitch this time up, is if the game is a total blow-out.

    Mr. Torre has got to be terrified to use the guy.
