He was clearly in over his head as HC. Hell, his one year as DC the defense in New England was terrible. I doubt the Jets would have gone after him if he wasn't associated with Belichick. Maybe they'll go after McDaniels. Call him McGenius or something.

If you follow Tuna's MO, the he won't be coming back to the Jets.

Based on his personal history Parcells has shunned teams with an established nucleus coupled with high expectations.

Since coaching the Giants to a SBXXI championship, Parcells has...

- In 1987 tried to bolt to the Falcons as coach/GM before the Commish vetoed the move. The Falcons were 22-41 from 1983-1986.

- Has passed up the Tampa Bay job. The Bucs were a frustrated playoff team at the time.

- Took over the Pats in 1993. The Pats were 14-50 the previous 4 seasons.

- Took over the Jets in 1997. The Jets were a league worst 1-15 in 1996.

- Took over the Cowboys in 2003. At the time the Boys suffered through 3 consecutive 5-11 seasons.

- Was hired as the GM of the Dolphins for 2008 after they went a league worst 1-15 in 2007.

Maybe Parcells still remembers the 1983 season when the Giants, only 2 years removed from their first post merger playoff appearance, fell to a 3-12-1 record. That year Parcells started Scott Brunner over the popular Phil Simms and the tabs and fans were calling for his ouster. The Jets are coming off a 9-7 season after signing a bevy of UFAs last offseason. Eventhough the year was a bitter disappointment, the expectations for the Jets remain high.

Parcells wouldn't go to the Jets. Like RIYankee said, he goes where expectations aren't there to begin with. Taking a team from 1-15 to 8-8 (or in this year's case 11-5) makes him look much better then going from 9-7 to 11-5.
