Alright I'm not being understood in an argument I didn't want to have so I will bow out. You win.

Your argument doesn't make any sense, it ignores too much. Carl Pavano only pitched 45 innings the last two seasons, by your reasoning, we can't make any judgements on Carl Pavano.

    Ok here it is:

Your original statement "I don't judge players on half a season (referring to Cano)"

I then asked you why do you judge Hughes based on his half a season?

How was that an unfair comparison, being that you are down on Hughes based on his time in the majors this season, which was less than half a season...

I'm down on Hughes based on 2 seasons, not just this season, the only 2 seasons I have seen him pitch in the majors.

EDIT: There is also a stark contrast between projecting a player who has shown loads of talent and has shown a season where he was the best at his position and a prospect/player who has only shown the ability to be league average.

I thought he was very good for a 21 year old his first year; last year was obviously disappointing. I still have high hopes for him.

    Long-term? Well, that's a different story.
Short-term Price is a much better option than Cano. Long-term WAY better. Price is going to be dominant next year. We just saw the first inklings of Price in the bullpen. Just like Joba he is NOT a reliever. He is a starter and he is MUCH better than Joba.
I wish we could haz a Matt Harvey.

Just noting he has 128 IP last year, counting the post season. He does have an inning cap. Now, depending on Price's effectiveness as a starter at the MLB level, he could be potentially more valuable. It really depends on which starters we pick up in the off-season. We don't know if he is going to be dominant. When Phil Hughes was posting video game numbers in the minor leagues with impeccable control, I thought he was going to be relatively dominant. It doesn't always work out.

"Much better than Joba" is really pushing it. Price is gonna need to be "Dwight Gooden dominant" next year if you want that statement to hold any weight.

Haha, I hope he is seeing as I own him in a keeper league. I think he will be very, very dominant.

Re: Trade Proposals/FA Signings That Just Might Make Sense

Is there any way the yanks can package a deal to the twins for Liriano. I know he had surgery and did not pitch a ton last season, but he is young and left handed. The twins have a stocked farm of pitchers that are on the rise and i was just wondering from anyone what it may take to get Liriano.

    Any thoughts?

A team like the Twins doesn't trade a potential dominant CHEAP left-handed starter unless a team would WOW them. We have no shot.

Agreed. Especially when you look at the way he pitched down the stretch. Take away those first 10.1 IP early in the season and this is what Liriano gave you:

    65.2 IP 2.74 ERA 59H 60 SO 1.19 WHIP

I think we could give them Hughes, Jackson, and Montero and they still might not even be interested.

    There's an interesting trade offer.
