congrats to your son and best of luck to him
40 pitchers, ever, have an ERA+ of 130 or higher for their career. 15 have 140 or higher. 3 guys have 150 or higher - one is right at 150, the second place guy is at 154, and Mariano Rivera is at 205.

Re: My son signed with the Yankees last week

Thanks for all the congratulatory messages. Great cartoon . . . I definitely have a few bone bruises on my ankles and shins . . . lefties are tough to catch. By the way, Nik is 6'4" and about 200 lbs. and also played basketball in high school. He's considered a power type pitcher (touched 92, but normally in the 87-90 range), with an effective changeup and a decent 12-to-6 breaking ball, working on the 2-seamer. Looking forward to his first outing in the next few days for the GCL Yankees. Thanks again.

Re: My son signed with the Yankees last week

Sorry, forgot to mention that we don't know if we're related to Bullet Bob Turley . . . but we have read about his great career with the Yankees, especially the 1958 World Series where he pitched four times, 2 starts, 2 relief appearances, 16.1 innings, 2-1 record, allowing only 10 hits, 5 earned runs with 13 K's . . . all in a span on 8 days. Amazing MVP performance in a 7-game series where the Yankees won after being down 3-1 to the Hank Aaron Milwaukee Braves. Bullet Bob came in relief of Don Larsen in Game 7 @ Milwaukee and pitched the last 6.2 innings in the win.

Hope to see him in the Bigs by 2011, The Yanks will need a big lefty in the rotation. 6th round money is around 150 thousand, good deal.

Wow heck of a deal to get 6th round money at a 50th round pick. It's good to be a 6'4 LHP. Welcome to the forum, and we'll be rooting for your son right along with you.

How's his movement? I haven't checked a scouting report on him.
