Not that there's anything wrong with that

He cannot catch Moose or Pettitte, if he doesnt plan on going through the proper preperation and if he thinks he can pull that stuff with Girardi hes mistaken. I was shocked when I heard about that with Detroit knowing Leyland is the manager.

"Ahhhh, Fresh Meat!" <<< Any DotA gamers here will know why I said that.
Anyways, I'm really excited about our team now for some reason. Although, I was a fan of Farnsworth, but ya gotta give in order to get.
Good move!

And yes, you are right, the Yanks can not offer arbitration (which would make him a FA) and then sign him for $5 million if he would accept that.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
Offer arbitration, at exactly 9 million. Cite declines in performance, age factors, and injury risk with respect to the position and they win. Tell him he will only be a backup to Jorge all year, and he will want to go elsewhere. Gotta play hardball with the guy if we want those 2 draft picks.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
I would never trust Farnsworth in a big spot, especially if we made it to the playoffs again. We got a small taste of that in the last series against the Red Sox when Mo had to bail him out.

Really? Why? He knows he won't play if he signs.

The steroid-less Pudge is just not the same.

Yeah, that's it. If he was on steroids he wouldn't have swung at those balls.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
Maybe Molina should be catching Pettitte (and Mussina) and not Pudge.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
This is the one thing I was worried about in acquiring Pudge was how he'd work with the pitching staff especially the guys that have been doing well with Molina (Pettitte, Moose, Joba).
Maybe Pettitte just doesn't have it tonight, but he definitely doesn't seem to be comfortable with Pudge. Hopefully they get on track and are good to go after this start.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
He's had, what, 12 hours tops to learn his pitchers? I'm sure they'll all sit down with him when they have time and this will be a near non-factor in a week.

Darn it would have been a HUGE inning if it wasnt for Pudge.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
So a K, a GIDP and possible involvement in Pettitte missing with his pitches. Not an illustrious start.

I'm sorry, Pettite was throwing fastballs as straight as an arrow. And this ump is not helping out because he is being really tough.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
Is this for real?
Are people here really ragging on Ivan R. based on one game?
I swear, I just don't get this kind of attitude. Some of you just can't wait to hate.
Negativity reigns supreme I suppose.
Have at it.
Me, I'll give the guy more than one game before I crown him with the "team bitch" crown the rest of you can't wait to put on his head.
Sheesh.
Pathetic..Of all the things in life I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
I called his 2B play in his 2nd AB and the Yankees getting blown out tonight. I figured that I was feeling way too good about things, watch the Yankees get blown out tonight.

Re: The Official Pudge Rodriguez Performance Thread
It doesn't help that none of us much liked Pudge before he put on the pinstripes. I've got to admit I catch myself wanting him to fail (same with Damon) until I realize it hurts the Yankees.
42 is the answer
Gets to see even more of AJ Burnett now!
