Atleast we don't have to see Betemit as a defensive replacement anymore. And they finally stopped kidding themselves that Betemit could hit from the right side.

Historically Wilson has been trash from the right side, but this year his splits are actually pretty similar (though still tilted a bitto the left). Maybe he's making strides? Probably not, but hey.

Not a bad move I guess, albiet a pretty impact-less one. Maybe he'll be sparked by the change of scenery and have a decent second half. Given the low risk low cost nature of the move, given the fact we needed a righty bat, I can't really blame Cashman for anything. Just another piece of turd to fling against the wall.

He's probably got more left in the tank than either of them. If it doesn't work, it won't matter because we probably aren't losing anything by starting him against lefties over Betemit.

His 3 year split from 05-07 has his OPS vs. lefties at .881. In what world is that poor? His BB/K ratio from that side is 2/3 which isn't too bad for a power guy.

It's a little less optimistic if you look at the '06-'07 OPS vs. lefties: .759

At least Richie is tall enough to knock down some errant throws. Betemit had the range but not the glove to work around 1st.
